I can't remember, does that site allow for HTML5 streaming too, or only Flash? Don't think the PS4 browser supports Flash, so that won't work, but HTML5 streaming might. Though I'm not sure the browser can handle it. It seemed kind of slow to me (decent for a console I guess).
Camera is fun for a while. It works a lot better than I thought it would. It enables voice commands for the PS4 but I feel weird talking to it. The only game you can use it on is the Playroom but it is fun to sit there and throw around robots. Somehow you can connect your phone or tablet and draw stuff to put on the screen but haven't figured it out yet.
The 2nd screen stuff isn't supported yet in the Playroom. They showed it off, but that part of the game is coming later. Called "Toymaker" or something like that I think. Just Dance also uses the camera. Typical party game, but it can be a lot of fun. Don't think it really justifies the camera though. The voice commands are nice, but I think you can also just use a headset for that. Facial recognition for log in is nice, but no biggie IMO. I'd say no to the camera being worth it, even though it does create for some fun moments. Might be worth it later on, if some good software comes out that supports it (or if the OS builds in better support).
I heard it doesn't do HTML5 at the moment (sounded like it was being considered, but second hand information). No Flash of course, never.
I hooked up my phone to the PS4 a few minutes ago. I'm really impressed with how responsive it is as a second screen. When I used that feature for 360 there was always an inherent delay (about a half second each time you do something), not a huge deal but enough to notice / annoy you. Using it on the PS4 it was virtually instantaneous, pretty cool.
Not even sure what this means. Someone link me to info and recap the other things I probably don't know my PS4 can do please.
If you go through the Playstation app for android or ios, you can link your PS4 to it when you're signed in. You can then use the phone/tablet as your keyboard, or to navigate the Playstation itself. You can buy stuff through the store. If your PS4 is in standby mode, and you're out across town or whatever -- if you buy through the app on your phone the PS4 will turn on and download the app/game for you. Naturally you can see friends / the what's new page / etc. I liked it too. There's a similar one for 360, but I liked it. Seemed quick / responsive, the highlights were high quality too.
Oh, okay. I have the app and understand what you can do with it. Didn't realize it good impact what you see on your TV screen in realtime though.
Yeah, like I mentioned it's verrrry responsive. I am doing it over a G band wireless network as well (the PS4 is hardwired, however).
Uh wow, so I opened the app...literally just opened the app and it turned on my PS4 and my TV (I have a sony tv). Cool feature, not sure if I like that though haha.
Just got my DOA PS4 from Amazon! After an hour with Sony customer support they offered to ship me a coffin, and then overnight me a new console...once they receive my ps4. Wouldn't that essentially take away my full year warranty? The customer service rep wouldn't give me a straight answer. He just tried to sell me an extended warranty I heard Amazon will offer a refund but probably no replacement. Not sure what to do, anyone else get a Bricked console from Amazon?
I was reading a sony support forum... a guy asked Sony my same question, apparently they told him the replacement console would reduce his initial warranty to 3 months or something. Not sure if true. Not a fan of Sony customer support after dealing with them when my ps3 died. I just talked to Amazon, they are offering me a free replacement. They are shipping me a new one as soon as it's available, which could be as soon as tonight. And I
...don't have to send them my broken console until after I receive the new one. Great customer service
PS4 tip : With your included mic plugged into your controller, and while on the ps4 dashboard, you can give your PlayStation commands and it will work, sort of like how the kinect works by saying "Xbox do this" Try it. Just a little gimmick that I will rarely use, but still cool.
