I feel the same way, let Dwight ease into the playoffs, fresh and ready to rock. Let Asik have 15-20 mins a night, making sure Dwight plays no more than 28-33 at most.

I agree, all he needs to do is backup Howard at center. Since he is going to be traded, the Rockets need to let the DMo and Jones have more playing time so they can continue to develop.

Seeing both interviews where he was asked about Asik, I really like the way Parsons handled this situation as one of the leaders.

Anyway, I can't stay mad at Asik.

YES! glad to hear asik will be back. I was hoping he wouldn't drag this out until the trade deadline.

Asik was a real warrior for us last year, but c'mon. I can think at about 100 things humans could feel depressed about. Playing backup to the best center in the world is not one of them, all the while averaging $8M bucks a year.

We need to make an "Omer Asik depressed looks" thread we can gather all the best shots of Omer sitting on the bench looking unengaged.

Looks like Zan Tabak did on the bench.

    I totally agree .

And perhaps mchale can start them both on 3rd quarter for 5-6 minutes . I'm against TT since dwight acquisition and we all saw that it didn't work , but it worked much better on 3rd quarter than the 1st one which was weird...

As a big fan of DMo I am sad that Asik returns, but I don't blame Omer for nothing. Unlike most posters, it's not just about the money for him, so what if he gets ~8M, being backup to howard is no glory. You don't get credit or anything else for being a backup. 99% of guys in this league want to play as much as they can.
You want Omer to smile during the games while sitting on the bench? Who would do that? A total hypocrite would.
Omer was right in the first place to ask for a trade when Dwight came, when Rockets could have gotten good things back for trading Asik.

Yeah, you are right, I never understood either why it worked in the 3rd quarter why it didn't work at all at the start of games.... weird

The funny thing about non-star players demanding a trade is that it actually makes it harder for the team to trade you for something they want. If you're not playing much and have value, then the team probably wants to trade you as badly as you want to be traded.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Rockets came to an agreement behind closed doors with Asik. Something along the lines of "If you are willing to play nice, and act like you are ok with the situation for a while then we will work to get you traded by x date.

I'm not sure it was better in the 3rd quarter. Maybe; I'm too lazy to check. I remember the same disastrous results. And as soon as McHale would say, "Okay, it didn't work, just like the last six games," he'd put in the smaller lineup and we'd tear it up. Unless one of his overly-relied-on stars was already exhausted.

Howard and Asik should never play at the same time on the same team. It's like substituting salt for sugar in your cake mix. It not only doesn't work; it's plain-azz awful.

Yeah, I saw on hoopshype how other teams are interested but some scout/GM's kinda talking out of the side of his mouth about Asik. So we need to get his value up, stat.

Another name linked with the Celtics is Houston center Omer Asik, who, with Dwight Howard now on his club, has asked for a trade.

“I don’t know if they’ll get a good enough package for him,” said one NBA source when asked if the Rockets are willing to deal Asik. “I think teams like him and think he’s a good player, but he is a non-offensive, non-free throw shooting center, and he’s not Dwight Howard. And he has a $15 million balloon payment coming next year.”

I am more intrigued at the notion that he wants to play for the ROCKETS OR JUST START......if its the first then I applaud him,if its the later then he can start on another team....and whats up with the attitude/pouting??!! You are playing a game and make millions !!! cool out and realize its a business and not about you...J/S.
