So i'm hearing a lot of disappointments with next gen 2k14 regarding GM and career mode. As somebody who loves mycareer can somebody with next gen 2k14 tell me if it's true you can't customize your player at all?
You can customize your player, but there are a set amount of faces. Most likely since the face system are not 3d scans, it'd be difficult to give you slider control like before. I'd count on 2K giving you more indepth CAP features but not until like 2K15.
I guess I have no reasons to go for 2k14 or the PS4 yet then. I'll settle with 2k13.5 and PC games for now...
yup, there's about 20+ template faces, another 20+ haircuts, beards (decent ones, much better then 2k13) and that's about all you can do. I have to say though, iv been sorta hoping for them to this. Your my player is now a real cyberface and your guy looks totally real which i prefer over the 2k13 creation. On a separate note, my player has been disappointing me lately. My guy is a overall 81 on the kings (im 15 games in) im avg 26 points 4 rebounds 4 assist shooting 48%. Still not starting, not only not starting but iv been getting my mins reduced now because we'v been loosing i guess. I scored 40 points on 60% A- team grade, one game (in only like 12 mins) and because we lost the game, the coached talked with me and told me my play has been disappointing and that he's reducing my mins. This same thing has happened the last 5 games. So that sucks, also the cut scenes have got a big repetitive. Overall though good jump from 2k on the next gen. Im sure they will fix these problems and have a perfect game for 2k15.
In regards to current gen to next gen. Will VC transfer over? Will myPlayer(s) transfer over? Will gear bought (like the rings/watches; elbow pads, etc) transfer over?
Agreed, although it seems like these have been problems for years now (almost since the start of this mode), and they've yet to address them. Makes it hard for me to really want to sink a lot of time into the mode, which is unfortunate since there are a lot of good things about it. Maybe they'll finally do it with 2K15, but since they've yet to address it, I won't get my hopes up.

I don't expect it to happen until next year. No way they release 2 PC versions in the same year with the minimal support they give PC.
