I don't really believe that Case is entirely innocent, but, yes, I do believe they have done very little to help him. That is what I am implying. There are numerous adjustments that could have been made for weeks, even before Keenum. I don't understand a coaching staff that can't or won't make adjustments. A Rookie needs all the help he can get. He has shown some serious skills when he has time.
Thank you, coming from one of the icons of the board. (though, you really should change your name - gross)
Study Study Study Film ala Peyton Manning increase his football IQ! Peyton didn't become Einstein overnight. He should sleep with those pre and post snap defensive formations under his pillow every night.
sigh. bigtexxx will have to share some wisdom 1. The WRs need to recognize a blitz and employ release moves on the CBs who will be using tight bump and run coverage. Then the WR will be open quickly 2. West Coast offense-style short-timing routes from the WRs 3. The QB calls in more protection pre-snap 4. WR runs to the empty spot that would otherwise be occupied by the blitzing defender 5. Throw to a "hot receiver". This is when the offensive player chooses NOT to block a blitzing defender, leaving the offensive player wide open
Sure... but you nave no idea that they aren't trying to get him aware of the release valves. Maybe they're trying to tell him not to be dropping back looking for the deep pass when there are obvious blitzes coming his way. On the flip side, you could just as easily say that they've been trying to get him to adjust for 4 weeks, and he wasn't making any progress. The truth probably lies somewhere in the middle... but I'm not going to entirely blame the scheme/coaching when a rookie QB isn't able to handle a blitz well.
Cmon nick, You know konserviak does not set his qb's up to succeed against any form of pressure. Whether its Schaub or Keenum they can be staring down the barrel of a full out blitz and its the play called and the defenses are amazed at this lame assed offense with no adjustments to counter, its down right embarassing.
Thanks to you, I re-watched every blitz from every game over the last 3 years whether it was Keenum, Schaub, Yates, or Leinart at QB. There are built in mechanisms for this offense to be productive despite the blitz. Once those are executed, teams tend to sell-out less. Keenum needs to learn them (if he can)... once he combines that with a deep ball, he'll be even more dangerous.
Everyone? You are dedicated! So you're saying Kubes hasnt found that qb that can execute his brilliant schemes?
I think I figured it out. Newton has been opting for # 5 this whole time! We just failed to alert him he's intelligible. But seriously this is basically right. I'm sure having OD and Foster would help a lot as well. Theyd have a better understanding of what to do. There's gotta be something. Maybe case just doesn't call them? And this is an honest question: Do you think kubs called that fade to dre before halftime against indy or do you think case took it upon himself to just call it go dre? It wouldn't surprise me if it was the latter.
am I the only one who sees our one-yard or lost-yardage screen plays, then watches the opponents routinely get 7-12 yards on screens, and wonder why the hell we can't run or defend a screen? I'm much more versed in baseball than football. So, educate me here: what the hell has happened to this offense? Is it just poorer line play, or has the league "figured it out" while the coaches have failed to make any adjustments? And, one final question, do I observe correctly that Kubiak may be the worst half-time adjustment maker in NFL history?
That is what I am thinking. O.K., Keenum is not reading all the blitzes, so what is the coaching staff doing to help him? I am not getting specific answers, because I think the real answer is NOTHING. They are not making adjustments. If they are, someone please point them out.
Again. Perhaps they are making the adjustments, and the team still is failing to execute them. Having a decent RB and an elite TE also provided better release valves that opposing defenses aren't really worrying about currently.
Why not let Keenum audible, why not flank him with running backs (like they did Brady last night), why not move him back a few yards, etc.? In other words things that don't depend on others.
....with all the Oline false starts last week....no confidence in the protection, or attempt for schemes.
Why doesn't he throw to the first quick option in the flat instead of waiting for a deeper route to develop? Why does he run backwards instead of throwing it away? Again, its not all on the coaching staff, and its not all on the team around him. Its not all on Keenum either... and he won't have to depend on others to make the above adjustments. He's not going to become a HOF QB overnight. He needs to work hard, make adjustments, and make the opposing defense pay for overcommitting to the rush (by making the correct reads).
