Andre started. Not Schaub. There is another angle of the video and AJ says something as he's passing by Schaub, that's when Matt replies and Andre turns and walks towards him. The original video doesn't show AJ's first words. Andre also messed up, not Schaub, at least not on the last play. He stopped short on his route, otherwise he would have been rigtht where the ball ended up. It still would have been a touch catch, but that was the plan. It's not like Andre hasn't done it before.I'd like to put it on the QB just as much as anyone else, but the truth is Andre was upset at the end and didn't seem very interested in participating. Perhaps it was because Schaub missed him earlier, but Andre still has to do his job, regardless of what QB is out there. And Andre knows that, which is why he took the blame.

Also, on the last set of downs on that last drive, AJ was on the sideline and Schaub was getting ready to line up to snap and he's looking around like where the fck is Andre? the camera cuts to Andre on the sideline and he quickly runs in. I don't know if Andre thought about sitting out and then changed his mind or if he was just so out of it he didn't know he was needed on that play.

Good stuff. Do you have both angles of the altercation? One that shows what we saw on the TV, and the one that shows the additional words that started it, with AJ?

I haven't seen the one you mention. I want to see it.

Andre gets a pass from me, he's earned it by putting up with this bull****. Schaub doesn't.

I think it was on ABC's Inside the Game with Spencer Tillman. I'll try to find it, but even in the original video you can see the players around Schaub react to something before Schaub even starts talking. They were looking at AJ walking by, stunned because he was trying to have words with Schaub.

I get why he did it, but he deserves some blame for how the game ended. It wasn't all on Schaub this time. They could have won it on the last play and we wouldn't be talking about this today. A lot of fans think it was Schaub who threw an errant pass and then had the audacity to call Andre out afterward, which is unfair and incorrect, even if Schaub has played poorly most of the year and deserves criticism.

I personally don't care if Andre slapped Schaub in the face.

 I just thought of this:

Andre Johnson with Keenum in the first two games he played: HAPPY
Andre Johnson in the fourth quarter with Schaub: UNHAPPY

I dont think it's a secret AJ has better chemistry with Keenum, and therefore, probably likes him better. I think most of the team likes Case more. A lot of them, including AJ, were gushing about him even before he was named the starter. Case's personality is just more cool and motivating. Schaub's probably puts them to sleep.

For those who think we can get a quick fix with a coaching change and be contenders next year. I'd like to offer an alternate view.

    Hole at nickle corner
Hole in the passrush (we need at least one or two OLBs assuming we even stay with the 3-4)
Hole at ILB (been a hole next to Cush since Demeco was traded)
Hole at DE (who's gonna replace Antonio Smith?)
Hole at RB (Tate is likely gone in FA and Foster coming off back surgery)
    Hole at RT
Hole at QB (I like Keenum but is he a franchise QB?)

Plus if we change defensive schemes we may need additional personnel to make it work.

That's a lot of holes. Best case scenario we are 2 years away.

Schaub is saying that he stopped on his route. AJ basically is saying don't throw it to me in triple coverage dumb mf'er.

AJ stopped on his route because he didn't think there was any chance in hell Schaub would have thrown it to him with 3 guys covering him. He's totally right as well because he shouldn't have thrown it to him.

I couldn't have any more respect for AJ following this altercation by saying it was his fault even though Schaub should have never thrown him the ball. Why isn't Schaub coming out and saying that he shouldn't have thrown the ball to AJ in triple coverage? AJ is just outclassing Schaub both on and off the field.

Imagine if Dre had a proper QB for his entire career. He'd be mentioned with Rice.

The passing game really hasn't been a problem with Keenum at the helm. He may not qualify as a franchise savior....but he also doesn't qualify as a "hole"

Antonio could be retained without a lot of grief.

RBs are a dime a dozen in this league. Get yourself a functional O-Line, and you don't need a stud RB to have a productive running game.

You don't need to draft someone in the first 3 picks to take care of Nickel. You just need a staff that can draft secondary with a better than 20% hit rate - something we haven't seen in the Rick Smith era.

Don't need 2 OLBs, since Mercilus is perfectly fine rotating in off the bench. He has been a disappointment as a starter, so yes, bring in an upgrade. That could be done with one of your first 3 picks.

ILB is a big one. Wouldn't need to be addressed before round 2.

Agreed that Newton needs to be demoted to bench swing tackle. Has the size and strength, lacks just about everything else. You could land an absolute stud in the first, which would double as insurance for Duane Brown.

The other, cheaper way to improve the right side of the line is to draft a powerful blocking TE to finally replace what we had in Dreessen. You didn't say it....but it's dubious to think Daniels is going to be a starter for us for much longer, if at all. It would not be a bad idea to chase a new starter at that position. Graham is fine as a pass catcher, but not top shelf and a third tier blocker.

If you have a front office that doesn't blow 7+ picks like we did in April, you've got a real chance to shore up things. It would also help to have an offense and defense that aren't each predicated upon a one-dimensional gimmick. Kubiak's boot and Wade's hybrid 5-2 Tiger Blitz have been figured out and they have both shown they can't or won't evolve.

This. Twenty years ago, in the pre-seventy-five-cameras-on-the-field era, there were probably a dozen altercations worse than this that were never caught on camera.

We don't really know what we have in Keenum. Yes he's showed promise, but we can't honestly say that we're set at that position.

Even if you think rbs are a dime a dozen, it's still a significant hole and play action doesn't work without a good run game.

Nickle corner is becoming one of the most important positions in today's NFL because so many teams are running multiple WR sets, moving #1 WRs around in the slot to get better match ups, and using rbs as WRs out of the backfield. We need a nickle corner that can cover and that's no small deal.

Retaining Smith will cost a lot of money. We have to extend JJ Watt this offseason. I'm no cap expert, but I don't think we can do both. We'll need to plug a hole at DE.

If you want Merculus coming off the bench then we do need 2 new OLBs because Reed is not the answer.

You agree starting ILB is a big need (also need depth there as well)

You agree we need a RT

You think we need a blocking TE

So, I'm not quite sure why you think we're one draft away. That's a lot of needs and you're not gonna fill half of them with starter caliber rookies through one draft. Very unrealistic in my opinion. Plus drafting exclusively for need is a sure fire way to miss on great players and accumulate mediocrity.

Btw: that doesn't even count retaining wade smith (if we don't we have a new hole at LG), retaining Earl Mitchell (if we don't we have a hole at NT), and I personally think we need more secondary depth.

We need to rebuild. We are not one year away.

^Every team has a couple to few holes. Even SB teams.
