Ersan Llyasova is an extremely good fit for the Rockets and would meet almost all of their needs from a starting powed forward.

    Three point shooting
He is about as good a 3 point shooter (percentage wise) that you will ever find at the 4 spot. The only real downside is that he does not take the number of 3's that Anderson takes. Overall I would argue Anderson is a better 3 point shooter with a quicker release, but the difference is minimal. If Ersan took the sheer number of 3's that Anderson takes I suspect his percentage would decrease.

    Defense
Ersan is not Dennis Rodman defensively but he is under rated. He is strong enough to guard bigger power forwards with good use of his lower body strength. He is quick and mobile enough to guard the stretch 4's and even many 3's. With the Rockets system I think you could see Ersan playing 3-5 in particular match ups. He and Parsons would be an excellent duo at the 3-4, capable of switching defensive assignments and spacing the floor very well.

    Skilled
Another part of Ersan's game that is often not appreciated is that he is skilled, he can put the ball on the floor and finish around the rim. If the defense adjusts to limit the 3 point shot, he has shown the ability to put the ball on the floor and finish or pass. He is similar to Parsons in that way.

    Fastbreak
Also Ersan can run the floor and has a natural instinct to put the ball in the basket. Having Lin, Harden, Parsons and Ersan all running the floor should lead to a lot of fast break baskets.

    Rebounding
Ersan is a good to very good rebounder. He is not a freak athletically, but he has a good instinct for rebounding position and he seals his man very well. He has a very wide base and with Howard's desire to gamble defensively, his style of play is perfect as a complement.

    Weaknesses
Ersan is never going to be a high volume scorer. He is not a player like Harden that can force the action and consistently score. He is not quick enough to run isolation plays for, his ability to break down and penetrate is usually a result of someone being out of position or over pursuing him.

Ersan is not someone that will create for other players unless it is off the break or the defense blows an assignment. The flip side is that he seldom makes poor passes and will not make risky passes.

    Post Play
Ersan is not a great post player. In the post he is more of a garbage man that relies on positioning and hustle. He will get tips and rely on people losing him under the basket.

    Conclusion
Overall Ersan is a very skilled big man that has plus skills across the board. His inability to create for himself and lack of a consistent post game keeps him from being an all star player.

I have doubts that the Rockets can get Ersan from the Bucks without a third team being involved. Having said that, Ersan has the potential to be a great role player in the mold of Detlef Shrempf. A forward rotation of Parsons and Llyasova would fit perfectly into what the Rockets want to do scheme wise.

Nice post, great of breakdown of his game! This makes it clear that I would rather keep jones as a starter and develop him.

3 point - esran > jones... esran is the better 3 point shooter, I would want ersan taking a game winning 3 over jones

defense - ersan = jones... ersan is more experienced & smarter on D rotations etc, but jones can get you more blocks and jones has the athleticism to stay with a elite 3 how he guarded rudy gay vs the raptors.
Rebounding - ersan = jones.... both are great rebounders

    Skilled- see weakness

fast break - jones > ersan ... jones faster and more athletic around the rim

post play - jones > esran ... jones can do all the same but more athletic with tip back he will grab them and dunk, which could be a momentum switcher during a tight game.

weakness- jones > esran .... Jones is not a volume scorer like you said with esran but need to be if he is faced up with his man he has shown flashes that he can take them off the dribble and get a good look at a shot or get to the foul line

Conclusion – Jones is someone I would rather develop, if we could get RA I would take him and jones because you get 2 different type of players that you can use in different situations. Which jones and esran kinda the same accept jones is younger, more athletic & cheaper.

    Hypothetically speaking of course.

Yes, its hard to see Morey making a deal like that, but you never know what could happen when the pressure is on from your stars, ownership, and an agent takes it upon himself to broker deals for you to sign off on. Nobody knows for a fact what happened in that Magic 2010 trade, but its pretty obvious that it was out of desperation, and probably not something that Orlando would have done without external pressure.

When I think of worst deals Morey could make right now, I'd think that it would have to be ones that put the Rockets in a position to not rebuild their supporting cast in 2 years at any given point in time around Harden and Howard. That's why LaMarcus Aldridge & Paul Millsap are probably targets 1 & 1B for Morey right now. They have contracts ending in the Summer of 2015, the Summer before potentially Dwight's last year in Houston if he isn't impressed and decides to test free agency the next year.

Some contracts that scare me a little bit-

Thad Young, Jeff Green, R. Anderson, Splitter, J. Smith, and to a lesser extent Ilyasova.

I think Sova has the best of the worst when looking at PF's that are being brought in to be the "missing piece" so to speak. I think all of these players would be challenging to move if needed because teams needing "fit" to take them on (keep in mind that Houston has the ultimate need for fit, and its still not obvious choices), and the salary that you would need to take back in any deal as well.

However, I do think it would be better to bring in one of these guys on an existing contract that gambling in free agency this Summer for a player that might not make much of an impact. That free agent signing could also spell disaster on a long contract that might not payoff due to production, and would be even harder to move if needed.

I also think it is less risky to bring in a player that can play multiple positions and fill multiple roles on a higher dollar contract. A guy like Batum can fill holes at the 2, 3, and 4. A guy like R. Anderson... 1 position and one skill. If that doesn't work out you are screwed.

Can we finally put this conversation to rest? Ryan Anderson is flat out a better shooter than Ersan.

Yesterday he scored a career high 36 points against the Bulls. Going 7 for 11 from 3 point range in the game. He is averaging 22.6 ppg and 56% for 3 point range in his 8 games this year.

Not only that he seems like a really nice guy. Really good locker room personality. Check out his interview after their win against the Bulls last night with the NBA TV guys.

I would rather have him than Asik playing 18 mins a game or whatever it is he plays.

I would rather want Millsap,he had a great game yesterday against the Spurs (15 points,14 rebs,2 stl,1 blk) and he isn't a minus defender like Anderson and can score in the post and NOP would probably want more than just Asik at this point since they lost Davis whereas we could trade Asik straight for Millsap and have a great PF rotation with him and Jones.

Is Ryan Anderson still on the trading block? I read a rumor that included Ryan Anderson for Zach Randolph, if so I hope we can somehow get him.
