Actually, perhaps you should do some research. I've posted here more than once that a top secret memo from JFK has been declassified and is out there to be read by anyone with an interest in it, and in it he orders a look into beginning a withdrawal of American troops from, yes, Vietnam. Do a search. It's no secret, not any longer.

And the comment about "Liberals" and Jack Kennedy doesn't do you any favors. It only makes you look like an idiot, and I don't ordinarily look at you as an idiot, with all due respect.

Bad typing. But it did take you a year to realize it. :)

JFK wasn't the first person to underestimate the microwave lobby, and he probably won't be the last.

Lee Harvey Oswald with a 6.5 mm Carcano Model 91/38 carbine rifle could not have done the shooting. Especially not with a boomerang bullet that would have defied the physics of even the magic bullet by being fired from behind and above, going past the target, and coming back and hitting the President from the front.

Come on, now. You've seen the video of the shot.

I can't imbed pictures right now, somebody do a google search of:

    LBJ + the wink

And post the picture of the guy giving LBJ a wink, a second after he's sworn in (takes place right after the famous swearing-in photo where he's standing next to Jackie on the plane etc etc).

Sorry, you'll have to link me to the memo that addresses this because I don't see it.

The only things I've seen is that Kennedy used the idea of an American withdrawal as a way to influence the leadership in South Vietnam.

What about my post was idiotic or untrue?

    1) Does Oliver Stone not like the "Kennedy wanted out of Vietnam" theory?

    2) Are there not liberal doves who want to believe liberals have always been on the right side of wars? I never said all, or even all liberal doves, or all democrats. I gave a specific set of parameters. "many liberal doves."

Most likely the idea is from this memo regarding pulling out 1,000 by 1963.

That's the one I was thinking of, Rashmon. Thanks! There is other evidence, but this memo makes it obvious that the intention was to begin reducing our forces there, not increasing them. Lyndon Johnson had that "bright idea," the biggest mistake of his presidency.

I believe the 1000 troop withdrawal idea was part of the overall strategy discussed in the declassified tapes that were about controlling the regime in South Vietnam. Kennedy is on tape saying something like "it will be even worse if we let the thing fall apart."

If you're in Katy, you should probably evacuate.

I'd never heard of or seen this before. What's the "wink" about?

It's only that...a wink. He's the VP, did he not expect to become president?

With the mood of the room, it's just a congratulatory gesture.

Has anyone seen the recently released documentary on Reelz channel called "JFK: The Smoking Gun"?

It does a great job of presenting ballistics evidence and eye-witness testimony to support that Oswald shot the first 2 shots, but the shot to the head came from the secret service car immediately behind the president's car. Investigation was done from a scientific approach by a retired Australian police officer.

It seeks to explain what happened, not explain the motives. In the documentary, they assume that the shot from the secret service was an accident when the car stopped suddenly.

It's on again this Friday (11/22) at 5pm and 11pm CST.
