Lin has been incredibly professional with regards to being moved to the bench. Omer on the other hand, chucked a sickie and refuses to play.

He deserves every bit of ire.

Imagine being Asik's agent, having to explain to owners why they should trade for a guy who will whine and pout and mope around and take money out of your pocket if he is unhappy.

Asik has really hurt us and himself with this act.

Tmac just had delusions of grandeur thinking he was still a superstar when he couldnt jump over a phonebook in that situation.

OMER IS JUST BEING A TOTAL AHOLE!!!

first - I know you watched the game tonight bc of what I highlighted in red - you know what I'm talking about.

Second - Have you seen a phone book in the last 10 yrs:confused:

While we're at it, a dime won't pay for a pay phone "connection." Do payphones still exist outside of airports?

Ok, losing my mind. Going to bed.

His source is game 1 in Utah where Dream went off for 40 something and Vernon missed a heave at the end of the game and then flew home without the team. Then in game 2 the Rockets were on fire all game long from three and we blew out those hosers. Even Chilly Pete was killing from deep. Ah... good times.

Asik still has plenty of value. He is still a top 10 center in this league and other teams will still want him. If this was a situation where there were only 1 or 2 teams that could use him we might be in trouble, but there are about 8-10 teams in the league that could use Asik. Those teams will still have to bid against one another to get him, and eventually somebody will offer something of value to the Rockets. Asik has made things harder for Morey but I still believe that Morey will end up getting good or great value for Asik just like he did for an upset Lowry.

The difference I feel is that Asik and his agent knows his value and how rare a talented center is in the NBA. So he has to look out for himself and go somewhere that he can improve.

With Lin, there's so many talented PGs right now that he just didn't have that kind of leverage. Also with Lin, he knows he's better than Bev so he just needs to prove himself on the court.

But like others have said, everyone, even Asik, knows that Howard is better so if Asik wants to start, he's going to have to be on another team.

Yep yep. Lin is a class act and a true professional. Asik is a whiny b**** and an embarrassment. Go hide behind your agent Omer.

So, I think it's kind of interesting that the Nuggets are in town tonight.

The Denver Nuggets coach, Brian Shaw, once had a bitter legal dispute to force himself out of a contract with the Boston Celtics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Shaw).

In 1990, after playing in Boston as a rookie on a 1 year deal, Shaw signed with a team in Rome. While in Rome, Shaw agreed to return to Boston on a 5-year contract the next year. Shaw later regretted it and refused to honor his earlier agreement to opt out of his European contract because he realized that he'd become a free agent if he stayed in Europe for 1 more season and being a free agent would allow him to make more money.

The Celtics sought arbitration, then sued to enforce the arbitration. Shaw lost the arbitration, the law suit and the subsequent appeal (http://law.justia.com/cases/federal/appellate-courts/F2/908/1041/169143/).

All the legal stuff happened in the summer of 1990 and garnered a lot of notoriety in Boston. The Celtics fans were pretty angry at Shaw and the front office probably were not happy with him, either. But having lost the lawsuit, Shaw showed up to play even he was experiencing a significant degree of hostility from home fans.

One of Shaw's teammates was Kevin McHale. According to Jack McCallum's book about the 1990-91 Celtics "Unfinished Business," during preseason, McHale was asked by a local writer whether he felt animosity toward Shaw and replied, "Why should I be mad at Brian? Look, it's not like he made it personal, if he came out and said, 'I'm not playing because I hate Kevin McHale,' then it would be different." "Actually, Kevin," a reporter told him, "that's exactly what he did say." "Where is that ********er?" said McHale, bolting out of his seat.

Anyway, just thinking that it's kind of funny that Brian Shaw, of all people, is visiting Kevin McHale's Rockets when Asik decided to not come to the game tonight. If anything, I think the lesson from Shaw's story is that it's perfectly fine to want out, or even to try and force your way out, but you really should show up to play while you are under contract.

And... the next team on the Rockets calendar is... the Boston Celtics, managed by former Danny Ainge, who was once traded by the Celtics in 1989 partly because (a) he wasn't thrilled bout coming off the bench, (b) he clashed with his coach over taking too many 3 point shots, and (c) he was deemed expendable after young players Reggie Lewis and, yep, Brian Shaw came along (http://lexnihilnovi.blogspot.com/2008/02/rajon.html).

This whole thing was what I was afraid would happen with Lim when he got his starting spot taken, but fortunately he saw the upside in it and took it as a challenge, Omer needs to nut up!

You don't get it. Dwight caught the attention of Hakeem, Dwight got the special treatment and hands on training with a Rockets legend, Omer was omitted from the party. Despite the fact that he was here before Dwight, and Hakeem never took the time to reach out to him.

Its more than playing time or starting minutes to Asik, its about feeling disrespected. The fact that he plays the same position as Dwight and never got the same red carpet welcoming from our all-time greats or organization when he arrived as Dwight did.

Its a pride issue, and as human beings we all have a certain degree of pride in what we do for a living. Asik just feels like the guy at the office who was brought in to keep a legacy of big men alive, played well in his first year with room to grow, then the next year the organization brings in Dwight and all of the sudden all of the Rockets greats come out of hiding and greet him, offering gifts.

I don't agree with how Asik is handling the situation, but I think he's entitled to feel the way that he does. He's an asset, and while we all sit around praising Morey for his greatness of bringing Dwight here, we still have no championships and players who play here are all aware that all they are and all they will ever be are assets to the Rockets organization.

People don't like being treated as assets. When you work for a company or organization, you want to feel like family. Not an asset.

Exactly. Asik will be ok if he's traded to a team that already has a starting center because at least he'll know what to expect and he won't feel like he was disrespected.

Also, there just aren't that many good big men out there, so Asik's stock isn't going to fall that low. People are still going to want him.

I love Asik but hes being a big baby here. Acting like such a diva. Cmon man, thought you were different. Dude looks like a kid whos dog has died.

Seriously, I think Matt Schuab accepted his demotion better than Asik has
