it's playing to your opponent's weaknesses. if you leave it to foul only the player with the ball to put him on the line, there's still a place for it.
And for those that say just make your free throws an it will go away, that's like saying "Just convert to Islam and the terrorism will go away."

Hell, another solution is just to call delay of game that does it. If they can call delay of game for people holding the ball after a make, why not this?

This.yes it's ugly but it's like any coaching tactic you use it to your advantage. If Dwight is awful at shooting them use it to your advantage
I like when the home crowd has faith in him, he seems to do better when he hears cheers rather than when they are on edge hoping he doest lose us the game.
They should limit the number of intentional fouls (fouls away from the ball) per game. If you go over a certain number, then award 2 FTs (team on offense can choose who to shoot) and possession.
As of right now, despite it's ugliness, intentionally fouling a bad free throw shooter is valid tactic to try and get back into a game. But because it completely destroys the flow and attraction of a game, I wouldn't be surprised if the NBA will do something about it. Until then, the only real way out is exactly what we have seen yesterday. Just hit the damn free throws. If Dwight can make free throws at about 60%, Hack-A-Dwight becomes a huge gamble for opposing teams. So I hope that by being fouled this much, he'll be able to find his in-game rhythm throughout the season and have more of those solid free throw games. Off topic: The Islam/Terrorist analogy was really bad and yes, islamic Terrorism (on US soil) is often greatly exaggerated.
The NBA and David Stern has done everything in their power to turn this game into a wing player scoring fest. They implement the no handchecking rule, the 3 second rule on big men, and they use to have a rule where if you fouled a guy who didn't possess the ball it was 2 FT's and ball in hand and now that isn't the case anymore. NBA has become garbage. Big men can't have as big of an impact anymore. Its all about chucking up shots and propping up frauds like Kobe and Lebron.
