Ersan's contract is not a hindrance to us participating in 2014 free agency much less 2015 free agency a long as he stays healthy. His contract can easily be moved after this season to a team like Utah for nothing but a couple second rounders and then you have your cap space back. However in the bigger long-term picture Ilyasova is more of an asset than pure cap space. If either Love or Lamarcus become discontented over the next year or either Minny or Portland or the Knicks decide that their superstars are going to walk away from them in free agency then they trade them for as much value as possible. They're not going to get a better player back than their superstar. The next best thing is a replacement player with at least some of the same elite skill sets a their superstar along with another player or two with great potential and some draft picks. Ilyasova is a very nice start to a trade for a superstar.

When you have 2 superstars, one aging.

And a potential all star in Lin leaving with surely a bigger contract and super-glues in Parsons and Bev pounding Moreys door down for a raise your timeline is short. There is so much talent this and next year that the urgency is gotta be real.

Nah, it hardly ever really works that way. But still, he is a great 3pt shooter and a decent rebounder, both qualitys that would really help us. I don`t really know much about his defense, but other than that his stats suggest a perfect fit for us.

not sure but i think he was once in the top 3 in taking charges if i'm not wrong..so i guess he also isn't afraid of contact, paired with his long arms he can be considered as a decent defender and can also play the 3 if there is a need.

I've been thinking about this all along. I can't believe more aren't mentioning it. Yeah, we get Anderson but his impact I don't believe will be greater than adding Asik next to Davis. Davis is the new up and coming Kevin Garnett. Imagine teaming that guy with someone who will do all the dirty work for him on the inside. Scarry!!!

I bet that reason is why Morey probably hasn't pull the trigger on that deal yet because otherwise it makes too much sense.

@Thedocrocket: "Some people work in the dark...@dmorey IS the dark!" ~ Doc Rocket. If there's a SnT, DM isn't in it, he's ORCHESTRATING it! Lies of truth!

This tweet was from June but I think it has some relevance now, anyone else think morey puts ideas in other gm's heads about trades they could make with other teams to screw them or try and leverage in the long term for them.
Or am I losing my mind

The Bucks don't need Asik. For a third team to be involved, there only 3 teams in the league, with a TE large enough to absorb Asik's contract. These teams are Boston, Denver, and Golden State.

Boston have Olynyk and Faverani, Denver with McGee and Mozgov, finally Warriors Bogut.

Unless the Bucks are happy to take an expiring contract only just to dump Ilyasova's contract. It's likely Lin's contract will need to be used to make a deal work otherwise.

However, there are many teams with the expiring contract/s and with a role for Asik, should the Bucks be willing to accept that in a trade.

Expiring contracts? Please tell me how that benefits milwaukee. Ersan is your rare stretch 4 on a pretty decent contract who rebounds at a good rate. They can get a 1st for him easily smh

I think it's impossible to get Kevin Love. Maybe we get Milsap which can set us up to get Love in 2 years.
