He did OK on offense, but he was horrible on defense. Right now we need someone that can play defense, is that D-Mo? If Smith is hurt I think D-Mo will probably get some minutes at backup center, and I hope he does well. D-Mo has bulked up a little bit, now he needs to play like a man. I'm not surprised he hasn't played this year. Asik is a better backup center, and TJones seems to be doing OK at power forward. When D-Mo does get his chance, he needs to produce.
Dmo looked good next to Dwight in the pre season. I don't understand why we wouldn't go back to that. Let him bump his head some and learn. It's not like other players aren't making mistakes. Not sure why dmo is yanked so fast for his. He already has the best post game on the team, runs the court well and is a good enough outside shooter to at least keep defenses honest. He's active, hustles, and passes well. He's a willing screen setter... I don't get mchale. There have been a couple good opportunities to stick him out there and mchale hasn't done so. I think he's the only player that dresses to not have a meaningful minute.
Morey will not let his drafts rot on the bench for two straight years. One way or another Morey will force Mchale to play DMo, just like he did with Morris and PPat.
I like DMO but he seems to have a hard time keeping his focus at the pace of this game. Frequently he'll take 2 or 3 seconds off and do a careless in-bounds pass, or stop going for an offensive rebound after he thinks he was fouled. He needs to stay on target for the entire time he's on the floor. That said, I like the way he defends pick and roll, he shows hard. But he's still getting bounced around in the paint.
Seriously! We need a guy who can be a stretch 4, tall and long to make up for dwight's height, and can run the floor because dwight seems to not be able to get in position fast enough... FREE DMO!
We've been spinning him and spinning him some more too much already. He is highly mistake prone and sadly just doesn't hold up well against NBA level competition. We should think seriously about including him in any deal we make to move Asik.
He played abysmally last year. DMO appeared in 44 games last year and in almost all the preseason games the last 2 years. Most of his stats were below average almost across the board. Highly mistake prone and the lapses on defense are just embarrassing. I had a lot of high hopes for DMo but I don't see it anymore.
DMo had a good preseason. Don't get me wrong I'm not running down TJones, he as had a couple of good games, and played better than I expected. TJones is way more mistake prone than DMo, but he has played good for two games. You can't keep judging DMo on last year. Again his preseason was good and he deserves a chance to play.
He played 8 games of pre-season 2 years running, 6 of those 20+ minutes, 5 more at around 18 minutes. He also played about 540 minutes during the regular season last year. Roughly 870 nba competition minutes since he has been here. If you use 30 minutes per game as a benchmark he has played about 29 games in front of our coaches or on a per game basis he's appeared in 62 games. But by your logic we haven't taken a 'good' look at his skills yet.
Motiejunas seems to have either gotten on McHale's bad side or because no one on this team has never been coached on team defense, which is his weakness, the team doesn't want to even try putting him out there since unless they have Howard out there, just like last season the team will play crap defense statistically instead of being average. You'd think they'd try him with Howard but why put a legit 7 footer with offensive skills out there at the same time as Howard when you can put bigger then normal SFs or Terrance "No jumper" Jones?
