I wish Asik would just be professional and play as hard as last year anyway. I thought it could work. But with the bad attitude, it really makes it impossible to keep him.

Ah I see. So Morey has been trying to trade Asik ever since the Dwight signing, but has gotten nowhere, asking price is too high.

So Asik is getting frustrated, asks his agent to help move things along. So his agent leaks the trade demand, and now the media spotlight is on this transaction, and other rival GMs are trying to see what offers Morey has been made/is considering via media.

    Lottery pick?

Would be funny if the Rockets get it and that pick somehow turns into the first overall pick.

Morey should also be glad that Lin didn't make a big deal about playing 6th man. Both he and Asik deserve more respect than they actually get.

He doesn't want to risk getting injured and getting screwed when he's up for his new contract. I would do the same in his situation.

Isn't this the same dance with every leaked trade rumors? When was the last time a rumor stated that other GMs felt a player was appropriately valued?

It would never happen, because even if Morey just wants to unload Asik, opposing GMs would either (A) still state that Morey's asking for too much or (B) trade would've already happened.

But do you honestly think that the Rockets can beat the Heat/Thunder/Spurs/Warriors/Pacers with a lineup of Howard, Jones, Parsons, Harden, and Lin/Beverley?

It would be a good trade for a lotto its just a gamble for the rockets Asik has proven himself as a legit center and only getting better while we could get a stud or bust.

The Rockets consider Asik just as good as Dwight so Morey better get every bang for his buck!

The market needs to develop. It will. But a lotto? Someone will need cap room or a bad contract to dump.

I'd be stunned if they landed a lottery pick. Highly doubt that's gonna happen.

It´s not a bad deal - it`s an asset. That`s the way Morey is always working. Try to get things that other teams want. If you can`t get a good enough player back for Asik, get a pick that every team wants - because you can always trade that pick away. Teams are much more in love with a draft pick than with drafted players, because there always is the potential that a certain star slides down to that position. The major reason we got Harden was that Toronto pick (Adams) - sure, Lamb and Martin were nice, but basically OKC were hoping for a high pick.

So, if Morey can get an unprotected lottery pick, that could be the piece that nets us LMA. Portland doesn`t need Asik, but they sure want an unprotected first rounder in next years draft. And if they don`t think they can turn into an contender while they still have LMA in their prime (and if he gets tired playing for a team that can`t contend), they will be much more willing to take that first rounder than Asik.

These negotiations tend to take time, and often do not happen until some external event make them absolutely necessary-- thus so many deals happen at the trade deadline or on draft date.

My guess is that Houston will continue to talk to teams but neither Houston nor its potential trade partners will put their best offer on the table this early.

While Morey doesn't want to deal with an unhappy Asik, there is nothing compelling him to trade Asik right away. If he wants to play, then play him. If doesn't want to play, he can sit. If he doesn't want to even be around the team, he can stay home. As long as the team's record is keeping pace with the rest of the playoff race, Morey can afford to wait.

That's because unlike his fans, Lin understand that the team can play 2 PGs at the same time without any issues. Two centers neither or which can shoot? Not so much.

If we trade Asik I think our target should be Chris Bosh. Miami NEEDS a true center. Bosh can stretch the floor, but also play on the inside and play center for us when we're going small. Anderson cant do that, Milsap cant do that. Plus, Miami eases the burden of affording the big 3 when their contracts are up. What else would it take to get Bosh?

    I don't understand this mentality.

Asik should be thanking Morey for giving him a bigger contract than anyone else was willing to offer, and allowing him to showcase his skills. And now Asik is pouting on the bench instead of helping this team win games. I think Asik is the one who needs to respect this team more.

Jeremy Lin also has little to complain about, since he is averaging 34 minutes so far this season.

The whole "Morey's asking price is too high" thing is entirely predictable. Of course other teams feel his asking price it too high. If there was a team that didn't feel that Morey's asking price is to high, the deal would have been done already.

Isn`t there a bigger chance that he gets injured if he plays more? This right now is actually a pretty good situation for him: everybody has seen what he is capable of doing, now he will be seen as the big luxury to have a guy of his calibre coming of the bench - all while not playing more than 20-25 minutes a night and not putting a big burden on his body. After next season a big offer will come.

Asik wanted a trade even before he played with Dwight. Them not working well together is part lack of chemistry and part self-fulfilling prophecy.
