I would welcome someone like Donuts to contribute. We should not play 8 man rotations like life depended on it. It is glaringly obvious that we are not a contender and it may take half a year, a year or more. Even if we can get our hands on Millsap or Horford it would still take some time to contend. Play him. At the very least we gain a tradeable asset.
We have so much talent; you cannot just write us off as non-contenders after 9 games. People have already referenced this, but look at how long it took the Heat to gain chemistry. Be a little bit more patient. Maybe even Donuts will have his role drastically changed in the near future, and it won't be because we're looking to boost his trade value.
We have talent but IMO to be a Top contender you got to have playoff experience as a team. Dwight and Harden's individual success doesn't count as much. Our talent doesn't seem to mesh as well as talents on other teams. All I am saying, it will be tough to call us a contender if we can't even win against the Clippers. We have problems against offensively talented teams and cannot outscore them in the fourth. And our defense doesn't seem to be good enough. And there are Indiana, Spurs, Miami, OKC, Bulls, Clippers, GSW. With that being said as you implied it is still EARLY.
I don't see how playing DMo would solve any of our problems since most of our problems are on the defensive side. Now isn't the time to be trying to showcase players when even the main guys aren't gelling too well.
So much hate for D-Mo on clutchfans and I don't really get why. He wouldn't be in the NBA if he had no talent. I think at this point McHale could try giving Donatas some playing time (similarly like he did with T-Jones), who knows - maybe D-Mo will rise to the occasion. It wouldn't hurt to experiment this early into the season, or maybe just to build D-Mo's trading value up.
Lol Asik just needs to go. With Greg Smith hurt (unsure how serious it is) DMo may get some burn, but I honestly don't see him doing much for us.
I could see him doing a lot for us if they would use him for what he is good at. The Rockets keep coming down the court and feeding Howard with his back to the basket, what for, to score? Everybody knows that's not Howard's strength, I know you have to do it some, but not over and over unless he is killing his man. I think Howard needs to get his points kind of like Tyson Chandler, that's Howard's game. DMo on the other hand is a very good post scorer and he would get better with play. Why not bring him down to post up, he is a lot better at it than anybody else on the team. I think he could be a big plus and lets face it although his D isn't the greatest it's at least at Scola's level. His D would also get better with play.
Talent on Miami meshed terribly. Wade stepped back and Bosh stepped back. They were both used to be best players on their team. Now when you see how hard it is, I hope clutchfans give some credit to Spoelstra. Howard and Harden should accept their new roles in favour of the team and there's nobody that is going to tell them that. Hence, we need a coach who knows how to manage personalities the way Spoelstra does and PJ did.
D-MO now is a best player from these who don't get any minutes. Seriously, I cannot see any other team on which D-Mo would not get playing time. Valanciunas is a starter for raptors while their are on the same level.
All of those teams can out-coach us. Seems like when we do beat really good teams its just based on pure talent. I really don't see McHale utilizing everyone to their full potential.
Biggest concern over Dmo is the fact that he just camps around the 3pt land every time he plays. He can shoot the 3 but not that well. If we are really moving Asik and not going to play him any more, I'm in favor of playing Dmo some minutes off the bench as a backup C. He'll have all the space he needs in the post with our second unit.
If Asik gets traded, and with Greg Smith injured, the backup center position is now open for D-Mo. Time for him to show us that he has been putting in the effort.
Not on the same level. Jonas Valanciunas is a 7-8 rpg guy with physicality and knows how to play in the NBA. Dmo is more clueless, does not play well enough yet, camps outside the 3 line and cannot hit it to save his dear life
Dont think we have had any trouble creating shots thus far, unless dmo is willing to defend the pick and roll, post up and rebound better he can stay on the bench for now
McHale does not know how to use Dmo. I'm pretty sure coach is telling him to stand by the 3 to take shots when Dmo is a great post player. Run some plays for him in the post and then his game opens up and he can start draining the 3's.
While Valanciunas is much more physical and a naturally better athlete, D-Mo is much more skilled than him, also has a superior BBIQ and passing ability. D-Mo would start for a lot of non-playoff teams. I do agree that Valanciunas will probably have a better future though. Other thing is, a lot of posters here complaining about D-Mo camping around 3pt line. Do you really think that is his fault? I can assure you, it is not. It's on the coaches to decide how they want to use their players. Another fact: McHale isn't the best coach in the league.
He should be playong, he is an excellent passer and moves off the ball so well, And he needs PT to get comfortable. DD
He is the ONLY Rocket with a good post up game. That's got to mean something, especially for a team that struggles in a half-court offense. It's mind-bottling that D-Mo hasn't gotten any playing time.
