I think the coaching staff did indeed want TT to work also for Asik but it didn't. Can't fault everyone else as well that Asik is one dimensional. He can only thrive as the No.1 or major backup. I think the backup role has sailed for him. I don't understand why it is so hard to accept the backup role until he is traded. It's not going to be the end of the world and he will be a starter for a new team come time.
Morey is no idiot. Benching Asik because he wants to be traded only drives his value down. Morey probably wants his minutes increased if anything. McHalw is benching Asik because matchupwise it works much better.
Who said anything about not fulfilling his contract? I believe teams trade players with contracts, am I correct? Even if the player didn't want the trade. So let's not pretend Omer's contract somehow makes requesting a trade unethical. It's a business and he did the absolute right thing by going public with the trade request. Rockets decide to let him rot on the bench and he collects 8 mill a year with little effort. Let's see how happy the Rockets are shelling that out for nothing. Hope none of you guys follow the Houston tradition of going to his house and making death threats, though.
Business? Does Asik have incentive bonuses in his contract? If not, he should shut the F up and give Morey some extra time. This is pride, not business. Whatever.
Asik wants PT - understandable. But he is not willing to learn and become a better player first. Let him go. He's not a champion.
You don't go public. It's not the rockets' fault that he's one-dimensional. He's being paid well. Last year the rockets gave him a platform to show the league how good he can be. He can feel anyway he wants about being 2nd fiddle to Dwight. He can ask for a trade. All I care about is that he puts his head down and works hard, and that he doesn't air his dirty laundry in public. I can't stand players that think the team owes them something and whine about it in public.
Wow I can't remember the last time the Rockets benched a guy like this. I can't imagine the tension in the locker room.
I get that but as a fan of the Rockets, I dont want him on the team if he doesnt want to be here. That is all I meant.
I know K-Love would be impossible to get but honestly I think that we could pry Horford from Atlanta if we wanted to. I think they are in a rebuild mode!
I would be salty too looool, hope he gets us good pieces tho. I would do Asik for Afflalo Lin/Bev Harden/Garcia Afflalo/Casspi Parsons/Jones Howard/DMO Even if he doesnt get traded hope he learns to embrace and situation and improve himself he is a good guy. Wherever he goes he will be great for them.
