Can't risk an injury. Honestly, it would have been dealing from a weak hand, but Asik should have been shipped out before training camp. I understand what Morey wanted, to wait until the deadline, and poach an underachieving team, but now it's the Rockets who are underachieving and probably getting poached.
i can't remember when was the last time a non-star player to ask to be traded. is omer asik the worst player to ever do it?
There's no reason why Morey should budge. Not only is it bad for the team to trade someone while their value's low, but it also sets a bad precedent. If I were Morey, I'd simply tell Asik that I plan to trade him at the deadline, when injuries and playoff pushes would raise his value. But won't make any commitments.
TNT is showing Asik sitting next to Howard pouting. Like he's the saddest person in the world. I thought he was clutching a blanket and wiping away tears. He's gone by next week.
Asik in deep freeze? I wonder if they have a trade close to worked out and doesn't want him injured (like Greg Smith unfortunately did just now).
Did Asik request a trade after the Sixers game? Or was it before? Makes a big difference in perspective. But either way, Asik was good for us, and I would be sad to see him go.
Hmmm yeah I said before usually 2nd Round Euro players are usually happy to be in the League. I think ESPN hyped them up. One dimensional but elite player at that.... He thinks he is close to an allstar
