Gm is the biggest problem on the team. Teams biggest needs in order 1)OLB 2)RT 3)ILB Qb is incomplete. Case is on pace for almost 40 Td's Kubs is coming back IN MY OPINION Sumlin would be a fun choice.
I'd say can't be much worse thank Kubiak/Smith. Out side of a few, they have been horrible. Swarringer looks to be coming around. I thought Hopkins was, but hasn't been showing much (plus seeing K Allen start to look like a stud in SD and passed on him). We have holes everywhere and no depth. I really have no idea on how to pick a GM, wether you pick a retread or not. When I heard Luck, sounded like an interesting pick.
We should hire Ozzie Newsome's asst GM and let him hire a coach. We are a soft team and need to be modeled to be physical again.
The Sumlin talk is just silly, we are trying to install a winning system in this organization, are you going to trust that to an unproven college coach? We need a proven winner ready to take the reigns not an experiment.
I 1000000000000000% - but am willing to make an exception for Dungy, who I think would a) hire terrific young coaches to do the heavy lifting (I'd fire him 1.0 seconds later if his first hire is Jim Caldwell, though); b) command respect in the locker room. If they hire Oliver Luck as the new GM, I want a commision - that was my idea first.
Are teams that hire unproven college coaches not trying to install a winning system? Was that not Philly's goal? Wasn't San Fran trying to do that when they hired an unproven Jim Harbaugh? Proven winners generally aren't readily available. If you want a proven NFL coach, you're probably getting one that was fired for sucking at his last job, unless Dungy/Gruden/Cowher decide to unretire.
I think you do what you can to convince Gruden to leave ESPN and come back to coaching. Failing that, I've always liked Bill Cower. If neither are interested I think you look outside the box like the bears did with Trestman. College might also be a place took look, but I'd be lying if I said I had the slightest clue who'd make a successful nfl coach. The track record with college coaches jumping to the nfl has not been great.
Top 10 potential head coaches for 2014 The always-mentioned names: 10. Adam Gase, Broncos OC 9. Dave Toub, Chiefs STC 8. Greg Roman, 49ers OC 7. Mike Zimmer, Bengals DC 6. Todd Bowles, Cardinals DC 5. Lovie Smith, FA(Former Bears Head Coach) 4. David Shaw, Stanford 3. Jon Gruden, ESPN 2. Ray Horton, Browns DC 1. Kevin Sumlin, Texas A&M So Vic Fangio and Greg Roman were already Texans from 2002-2005, I'm not sure how they were thought of at the time, but they come around with Harbaugh at Stanford(and follow him to the NFL/49ers) and now they're hot head coaching candidates. Interesting.
Muschamp at Florida intrigues me. I always liked the passion he coached with, and he also runs a pretty nifty defense year in and year out.
Why does Sumlin even resemble a NFL coach? He hasnt impressed me as a college coach. To be considered a candidate for the NFL you better be outstanding in college and even then you are rolling the dice (saban, spurrier etc.). Do you really want to try the Sumlin experiment for 4 yrs?
You must be kidding, after seeing what he has done in florida i was so glad the longhorns let him walk.
