From what I'm hearing (from pretty good authority), Baylor decided to announce this now instead of after the season because A&M feels pretty confident Sumlin will leave and wanted to go after Briles. This guy has also been right about A&M/SEC before it happened and Tech hiring Kliff before the media broke it

I think it's pretty obvious that they were worried about him leaving for UT or A&M this offseason.

Westboro nuts say they're protesting Tech-Baylor game

I guess the nutjobs that call themselves the Westboro Baptist Church out of Topeka. Kan., is running out of military funerals to protest. So now they're turning their attention to protesting at college football games.

It's the old Phelps family, an off-center bunch if there ever was one. Under the guise of the Westboro Baptist Church, for years, they've claimed that the United States has been too tolerant of gays, and that God's wrath has come down on America as evidenced by the deaths of soldiers in battle.

So, yes, they take delight in military deaths as a sign of America's downfall. Yes, I know it's a stretch. A sick stretch.

At one time, they did protest at many funerals, but lately the group has sent out statements saying they would be at an event to protest, but never show up. That may be the case Saturday when the Phelps family is supposedly going to load up in vans and high-tail it to Arlington and Austin to protest at the Texas Tech-Baylor and Texas-Oklahoma State games. The protest at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington is scheduled for 4:15 to 5:45 p.m. for the 6 p.m. game.

What did these four schools do for the honor? Well, here's there press release, complete with slurs and other offensive language, not to mention misspellings:

"WBC will picket the Baylor University vs. Texas Tech game to remind these fans that the God who destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah eternally reigns. The students, parents, faculty and staff at these universities promote $#@! filth -- all day, everyday. These supposed institutions of higher learnng teach the satanic lie that "its OK to be gay" instead of turning out world class engineers, doctors and the likes as is their stated purpose.

"The students graduating might be innumerate and illiterate but they can regurgitate $#@! propaganda by heart. They waste their college years partying at these football game in drunken debauchery (the Bible calls this sorcery) so no wonder they are Bible ignorant fools for the rest of their lives!"

And don't think the Longhorns and Cowboys are getting away unscatched.

"WBC has some plain words of warning for those who are attending the game between University of Texas Longhorns v. Oklahoma State Cowboys. We will not sit by and watch our neighbors sin their lives away without telling you at every opportunity that your duty is to obey your God.

"Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. Ecl 12:13.

"Our job is to make it very plain to you that this nation is doomed because it has exalted every form of sin to a level of respect that has made God raging mad! We will have signs to tell you that God Hates $#@!s and $#@!-Enablers, God Hates Adulterers, God Hates [filtered word], God Hates Drunks, God Hates Your Idols, God Hates America, and America is Doomed.

"Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their s ins. Isa. 58:1.

Whether you hear or refuse to hear, you will know that the prophets of God have been on your streets, binding you with these words, leaving you NO EXCUSE on the Judgment Day. See you soon!"

I say if they're going to protest anything, protest the cost of parking at JerryWorld. Now that's an abomination.

That is what they're saying... but, they are really just tailgating and watching some good big12 football of the year. You should check out the setup, they have some of the best bbq.

Shock Linwood is the real deal.

Hell that other freshman (Devin Chafin) RB was running all over Tech. It looks like he has power and speed too.

It shouldn't work that way, because Oklahoma State sucks. If Baylor is ranked #2 it should be for something else, not for beating that crap team.
