Nobody could score.... Garcia off and Casspi as a bench scorer ok but not the No. 1 option tonight

Lin needs to work on his man-to-man defense big time. He had a good game today scoring 34 points and 12 assists but his turnovers and defense needs work.

Lin does need to work on his turnovers. He has too many. 12/8 is 1.5 A/TO ratio. He needs to be above 2. If he gets above 2 then that stat line is a hall-of-famer's stat line.

Now that we got that out of the way.....everybody go take a look at Harden's turnovers and Harden's A/TO ratio. Now who needs to work on their turnovers???!?!?!??!!!!!!?!?!?? Let's all say it together. "Harden needs to work on his turnovers." Harden is demanding the ball and running the offense and making Jeremy play off the ball when he is in the game. His A/TO is worse than jeremy's and his TOV is just as bad.

Both guys need to work on turnovers.

But after tonight a lot of you guys just need to shut up arguing that Lin can't play this game at an elite level. He rocked it.

If you've been watching all the games, Lin's defense has been really good this year, and this was just a bad game where Lin got hot from deep but clearly was slower than usual. I expect more of the same as he's been playing too many minutes. Stamina, D, and composure are the next 3 things Lin needs to work on.

"Lin needs this, Lin needs that...."

You guys are asking for too much! He's a $5m/$8.33m player and you guys want all-star performance from him.

Give him some time, I think he'll improve. :)

Lin DREAMS of getting more than 2 minutes of rest.

Lin got 1:41s of rest in the first half (4:13 to 2:32) and 1:27s at the start of the 4th (12:00 to 10:23). A total of 3:18s during regulation.

He also played the entire Overtime period.

Yup, good old McHale, always watching his player's minutes...

Lin needs to learn to compose himself when he's tired and McHale should have better chemistry with Lin to know when to sub him out to get a breather and a talking to. And please no highlights when we lose... It's so depressing.

    torocan knows what's up.

McHale being a poor manager has nothing to do with whether or not he "believes" in Jeremy Lin or not. It's that he doesn't know how to manage player minutes, and rides everyone into the ground. Harden never should've been playing more than 30 minutes per game with his foot issues, and Lin should've been taking those minutes instead. Howard should still be playing fewer minutes in favor of Asik, in anticipation of the long season. Guys like T-Jones and D-Mo should've been getting far more burn than they have already. What the hell is Chandler Parsons doing out there for 50 minutes during a double-OT game?

Now that Harden is out, McHale doesn't know what he's doing besides throwing Lin out there for way too many minutes. It's kind of ridiculous. You could put a computer out there with some basic parameters and it would at least give guys more than a 30-second breather in the middle of each quarter.

That, and the team blatantly still has no idea what it's doing on something as basic as Pick N' Roll defense. Switch? Go over? Go under? There's clearly no plan going into each game and absolutely no communication between the players.

Keeping over-utilizing Lin will destroy him very soon.

Loved the ball movement. Season high for assist by the team!!! Need better coaching to manage that brief lead in the 4th. In a close game a couple less TO from from J-Lin, just one or 2 more made ft's by d12, instead of pretty boy smoking 3 layups he only smokes 2 and we never go to OT. FUN TO WATCH but still a lose. Like I said earlier don't sleep on philly cheese they took out the champs.
philly might beat that vegas over under of 17.5 wins

For this shredding thing to happen, the first step is to stop telling one player to stand in corner. The second step is to stop giving isos to the other player.

Lin made the most 3 point shots in a regular NBA game in that Philly arena tonight. Linsanity 2.0?

People won't expect anything less from this team's 3rd star.

The focus on Lin's turnovers continues to be misplaced and a major double standard. Here's 3 consecutive games from Harden this season:

Rk Age Date Tm Opp TRB AST STL BLK TOV PTS
    3 24-071 2013-11-05 HOU POR W 7 3 1 2 8 33
    4 24-077 2013-11-11 HOU TOR W 3 10 3 1 6 26
    5 24-068 2013-11-02 HOU UTA W 4 5 3 1 5 23

Lin's turnovers don't need to come down. As far back as Lin has been playing, his teams tend to win more when his turnovers are high, because it means he's making more of the decisions for the team, and he's absorbing other players' turnovers.

It is much easier to increase production per turnover than it is to arbitrarily reduce turnovers. Focusing on reducing turnovers reduces aggressiveness and reduces positive plays more than turnovers.

Morey said in an interview just this week, AGAIN, that he doesn't care about the turnovers, "we expect them with the style we play". It would really help discussions if we could focus on the things that the team actually cares about, rather than what casual fans think is important. For example, the Rockets 3-point shooting this year sucks. This game wasn't lost because of turnovers. It was lost because everyone besides Lin can't shoot from 3.

TOs are sometimes misplaced....total team TOs are more important than individual TOs. One player could have 10 TOs, but if the total team TOs is only 11 that's much better than every player on the team getting 2 TOs each...haha.

His turnovers do need to come down by at least one or two / game. Yes, its relatively "fine" if his turnovers come as a result of him being aggressive or trying to find the open man, but if it comes down to a one or two possession game, every turnover counts. And Lin will never be the "complete package" that many of us Lin fans think he can potentially be if he doesn't reduce his turnovers to a more acceptable level.

My speculation is that turnovers are next on his to "improve" list when the next offseason arrives. That, and just getting the experience required to play with better judgement and instincts.

Lin does have a tendency though to have multiple bad turn overs in succession.

Yup. He'll never be a top 10 PG if he can't fix this problem. He needs to have better decision making that is required of all floor generals.
