It's happened TWICE in a row. And we had fouls to give.

And he was hot all night so chances of Anderson hitting that 3 were fairly high

    ^^^

Also since we had fouls to give. We need to use it and make the other team inbound. This also runs time off the clock

What, you don't like 7 man rotations 10 games into the regular season on the 1st night of back to back?

He was hired for the 2011 squad. He should have been gone with the 2011 squad

McHale is making the same salary as Adelman was making before him as Feigan reported back then ... He is far from cheap.

Number 2 was true at the time but keep in mind that they hired him around the same time Morey was working on a deal to get Nene in free agency and potentially trade for Gasol. This system isn't even the system he was supposed to be coaching when they hired him.

However McHale was a reason Dwight came to Houston. My guess is the system changes dramatically this season when they start shifting more and more towards a half court team.

I don't think McHale is necessarily the problem... It the lack of an identity that really is the problem. Teams like Minny and Philly know exactly the way they have to play to win games and their players are bought in. Houston still hasn't figured it out and it seems like the team is sort of sitting around waiting for something to happen.

McHale isn't to blame here yet... If he can't rally the troops later in the year than I guarantee you Les isn't going to sit around and wait forever to make a change. The clutch fans newbies have no idea how impatient Les really is. I think McHale will figure it out.

well he hit the shot. We know 100% that he would not have hit the shot if we fouled...and he was a poor FT shooter too...so there was that as well...

I like our chances of our guards hitting FTs over giving up a 3 pointer...especially after this season where now two 3 pointers beat us and we were lucky it wasn't 3 against the Raps.

Relax, take a deep breath, I was only trying to soften the loss by making a funny.
I actually think Jackson would be an upgrade, and I think the Zen Master would literally jump on the opportunity, but I don't see it happening.

Reasonable response. Now forget the system for a moment and explain to me why his in game coaching leaves a lot to be desired. Just from the last few moments of today's game

    1. Why did he not foul when you have a 3 point lead and fouls to give? Foul, make them inbound and run some clock. We got burned against Raps too
    2. What happened to defense/offense in game subsitutons? Why was Brewer not on Anderson?
    3. Why run a play with Parsons going for a fadeaway?

These seem to be elementary coaching errors and have nothing to do with the system.

You seem like a big McHale fan and I applaud you for that but there is no way he has the tactical nous to lead a championship aspiring team. Poor X's and O's coach and lacks in game awareness

We got him to recruit Dwight Howard. Mission accomplished. Morey's next mission is to get the Stan Van Gundy.

Actually not a huge McHale fan as a coach from an X's and O's perspective. I think there are much better coaches out there, but that doesn't necessarily mean he's not the right coach for this particular team. There are quite a few successful coaches out there that weren't necessarily the best X's and O's coaches, but for some reason players respected and responded to them.

Also, I'm not a knee jerk fan, or try to not be.

-The fouling while up 3... its debatable, but besides the Blake shot, the other two buzzer beaters were against good defenses, and are simply coming down to luck. That being said.... I personally wouldn't play around with luck as a Rockets fan. The Rockets are far from a lucky franchise even despite 2 titles. If things can go wrong they will go wrong for this franchise.

-Brewer hadn't played the whole game, and through 3 quarters it looked like the Rockets type of game where they could go small and outplay the sixers with their old school 2012 style of play... Sixers beat them at their own game once Howard checked back in and..... BAM.... the Rockets are stuck between two identities. Not Howards fault... not necessarily McHales fault... just hard to play two completely different styles of play in the first month of the season... much less in one game.

-Play was probably for him to make a play toward the basket. Parsons had been getting to the bucket very well tonight. When he saw the lane got clogged he probably settled for a jumper. The way Parsons is shooting this season, I have a very hard time believing any coach at any level would draw up a play for him to actually SHOOT the ball to win the game. However he was taking it to the hoop very well tonight.

Actually these errors have everything to do with the system. They are trying to play multiple styles of basketball all in one game. They were even worse off with the TT, and then going small after that. This team needs to settle on a style of play first, and then perfect from there. Yes, that is on the coaches to install, and then its up to the players to buy in.

The COACHES (not just McHale) are smart enough guys to figure this out. Its too early to tell whether this season is a failure or not, and the silver lining is that they have still been able to grind out 5 wins during a tough 10 game stretch.

Don't underestimate Brett Brown. He was Pops' main assistant for TWELVE years. 12 years working with Pops is better experience than being a head coach for 5 years on a lot of teams.

Toss in that he's got Hinkie as a GM and the 76ers have the potential to eventually become very good with some luck in the draft and free agency.

Very true. It looked to me like Hinkie and Brown knew exactly what they wanted their identity to be from the very start of the season, and they are pretty much exactly what the Rockets were last year... only with better athletes who can run the floor and have the length & size on the perimeter to guard any team.

Also as much as Turner complained about Hinkie trading his boy "the legend" Jrue Holiday, this system has completely opened up the game for him to be an attacking wing at the 3 spot. Something he never was able to do in Collin's system.

Also you think this team is athletic, can run the floor, and play defense now.... just wait until Noel gets his legs under him and learns how to play basketball.

-Now this team isn't going to win 50 games this season... they dont have good enough players yet to be able to do that (although MCW could become that guy), and they will surely have games where they have complete duds offensively(like the Rockets did half of the time last year), but when they are on offensively they will be able to beat any team in the league on any given night.

Because we had a very low probability of turning it around with getting 2 consecutive top ten players in 2 seasons.
