This is true. One thing I like (and why I'm switching to PS4) is all of the free games you get through PSN+. One of the games I'm most excited for right now is Resogun. I'm also intrigued about playing Planetside on there. I have it on PC and it's pretty fun.
Congratulations! Add me on PSN...I won't be on until I get my console (probably Friday), but I need new PSN friends. "the_secLusion"
Pretty sure you can. I dled the Android app last night and it let me sign up through there. I've never touched PSN before.
I may just test my luck and be lazy. Not like I won't be busy with other games, although admittedly 2K14 might be the one I'd enjoy most (hopefully). I don't know how Arthur Gies still has a job in the industry. Well...his comments do generate a lot of controversy (and clicks), so I guess that's why. I don't think there is anyone else in the industry that I'd put less faith/trust in than Arthur Gies. Polygon in general is pretty much trash IMO (although their site is kind of fancy, and they have some nice features). And I'm saying that without factoring in any of this PS4 review stuff. I don't know if this is what you meant, but you don't have to signup for the PS4 or anything. You just use your PSN account from PS3 (or PSP/Vita/etc.). One account for everything. As for the system shipment updates, mine recently switched to "Preparing for Shipment." So guess I'll be getting a "Shipped" notification soon.
Friday can't come soon enough! Just got my shipping confirmation on amazon and just got a new controller from best buy. Here is my PSN for anyone who wants to add me: paullewalle 2k mainly
I'm thinking my best bet to get one on launch is going to be one of the following: 12:00 AM at Hastings - I figure many people don't expect them to be open at midnight, at least that's what I was told. 7:00 AM at Sam's Club - not even sure they'll have them launch day 8:00 AM at K-Mart - another I think people will neglect Does Sears or Radio Shack get them?
Preparing for Shipment Track Package Request cancellation DELIVERY ESTIMATE Friday, November 15, 2013 by 8:00pm PlayStation 4 Killzone Launch Day Bundle PlayStation 4 Killzone Launch Day Bundle Sold by Amazon.com LLC Yesssssss They better ship my Lego Marvel / NBA2K also. I don't want to get stuck only playing Killzone and Resogun for a month. ---- Edit: Oh wow, I got $5 promo credit for my 1 game that has shipped. So presumably I'll get another $10 after the other two, plus the $10 that comes with the console. Amazon/Sony making me feel really good about this purchase.
Both my orders from Amazon shipped My camera and nba2k14 hasn't shipped yet =/ Btw, on the launch bundles the PS+ is a code via email. Split the Target b2g1 with my buddy and picked up Knack for $26. It rings up $59, but on the sales floor the sticker said $39.99 and he honored that price for the deal.
Is it true you need playstation plus to play online multiplayer? GameStop guy was trying pretty hard for me to get that over there.
Yes. Well, technically you can play some F2P games online without paying anything, but the majority of games will require PS+ if you want to play online multiplayer. My PS4 shipped last night, and looks like 2K14 is about to ship (along with the camera). If you missed it, PS4 was on Fallon again: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/9hUUsqhetX4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Playroom demo worked pretty well for the audience. On a side-note, good to see Richard Marks again. Hadn't seen him since PS3 unveiling I think. Wasn't sure if he still worked at Sony. Reminder that Spike/GTTV will have some PS4 launch event tonight. Supposed to be new announcements and all that good stuff. Don't think I'll stay up to watch it, but I'll try to get a recap tomorrow.
Mine shipped last night and should be here tomorrow. Some of you may be aware of reports floating around of defective PS4 units. HDMI jacks failing, consoles no longer working properly after downloading something, etc. Hopefully they're just isolated cases and nothing widespread.
When I spoke with GameStop about a month ago, they said they were withholding a percentage of their stock for returns. They were expecting I believe a 10-15% failure rate. Basically this sort of thing happens for every new product launch (tech wise anyway). I hope I don't get a lemon, but if I do I'll just get it replaced.
There's a lot of drama going around about faulty units (HDMI). Hope it's not an epidemic. The thing hasn't even launched yet. Microsoft Execs are probably all giddy about it.
At this point, I think it is just the expected failure rate of a device like that. Don't think it is a problem, but maybe we'll find out for sure in the upcoming weeks. I was probably more concerned about "Wobblegate," but it seems post-it notes can easily fix that.
