Yeah, and I'd like a pony.

You seriously have nothing to propose other than a magical wish list?

79000 went through the 15 state run exchanges that actually work. While this number isn't good it is still better than the federal exchange serving 36 states which only signed up 27000 people. I don't know the population break down, but just assuming the federal site gets as many signups as the state sites: 79000/(15/51)-79000 = 189600. That would mean federal signups should be 7x what they currently are. I think this is probably due more to technical issues than pure demand.

Some of the state exchanges are also broken so the number is actually lower than 15.

That's the administrations expectations. And that's not even the ones who have paid just the people who selected a plan I believe. For context, 5 million received cancellation letters in the mail due to Obamacare.

Only 4,500,000 more and they will break even as almost 5,000,000 policies have been cancel thanks to Obamacare. Personally I don't see how the utter incompetency that has been openly displayed is going to get those kinds of numbers unless the penalty include a prison sentence.

    That's right

Obama (who's worse than Hitler BTW) should go to jail because he wants the country to have a sane healthcare policy.

    you people are whack

You are really reaching and being over dramatic when the numbers are showing less than favorable results on insuring America. So far the plan has done far more harm to accomplish that goal than if he would have just kept doing nothing

But if that's all you got left then just go with that...I guess...

    So the scorecard reads:

5,000,000 people whose policies were cancelled

27,000 who put a policy in their shopping cart in the federal exchanges

10,000? who actually finished the process (bigtexxx estimate)

    Fabulous work, Obama. Another failure

I guess 5 million people have to lose their policies so that 100,000 airheads can get coverage. Thats an obamanation for you and me

So saying the Obama should go to jail over the terrible performance of the federal exchange isn't overly dramatic?

I'm not going to defend the Administration over the exchange and agree it is terrible and Obama misled the public on his statement that you could keep your health insurance. That said I don't think critics are looking at the complete picture.

While 5 mil policies are on the chopping block if we are going to assess ACA as it currently stands you also have to consider how many people have been able to get insurance who couldn't because they were previously denied for preexisting conditions. You also have to consider how many young adults have been able to have health insurance by staying on their parent's policies.

This is like a teacher freaking out because students aren't turning in their homework months early.

It wouldn't be early. It would be late since 5 million lost their health insurance. Also who is the teacher in that example?

They lost a substandard plan that would have cost them more money over their lifetime. There are plenty of options open to them that would give them a better plan. Those people should be thankful for what is happening to them.

People wanted those plans you refer to as "substandard".

Isn't it funny when liberals think they know what's best for people?

My comment of prison time wasn't to Obama. It was a comment that it's going to take more than a $95 year fine/tax to get those kinds of numbers back that they are losing...it's going to take a threat of jail time. And some people can't pay. I know someone that makes less than 8k per year mostly because he keeps getting fired because of alcohol but he can't and won't pay for insurance even though he's got health issues (alcohol related) because it's too expensive without the subsidy. He'll just get a few bucks less back on his tax refund.

While you will pick up quite a few individuals because of the parent policy, and I am all for that even though all my kids are in school/college, I don't believe those make up but an insignificant amount of the 5 million. Most young adults under 26 that don't go to school or are fresh out and don't have a job that pays benefits, have the kind of cash to spend on insurance. Heck, I know quite a few that roll the dice on car insurance which is required by law. Babes, booze and buds...it's all good after that...
