I wonder if Laura will get the Dan Rather treatment

'We were wrong': CBS's Lara Logan apologizes for Benghazi report

(CNN) -- CBS correspondent Lara Logan apologized Friday and said the network was "wrong" for a "60 Minutes" report that raised questions about the Obama administration's response to last year's attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya. The assault left four Americans dead, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens.

"In this case, we were wrong. We made a mistake," she said on "CBS This Morning." "That's disappointing for any journalist. It's very disappointing for me."

Media Matters To Publisher: Move Discredited Benghazi Book To Fiction Shelf

Its author discredited, a new book on the 2012 attack in Benghazi, Libya should be treated as a work of fiction, the liberal Media Matters for America said Friday.

In a letter that was provided to TPM, MMA chairman David Brock wrote that, in the wake of CBS News' decision to retract its report centered around details in the book, publication of "The Embassy House" should be "halted immediately" or reprinted "indicating that it is a work of fiction."

    Poor "60 Minutes".

Dan Rather didn't take his time to really fact-check his story and got burned (even though he was right) instead of burning GWB.

Now the show wants to look like it's even-keeled politically and jumps too hard into this story and gets burned again.

Notice how the estebans have stayed away from this for awhile?

^^ lol at your desperation. I guess you think Hillary did a great job, regardless of whether Ambassador Stevens was murdered and had his body drug through the streets...

Lame "correction" by CBS last night

There are a lot more questions to be answered

"60 Minutes" has a lot of explaining to do, and clearly isn't interested in doing so. The key question is why did the show base it's entire story on the account of Davies, and not actually vet him with sources at the FBI? But there are plenty more, like did Logan attempt to find sources to corroborate Davies account? Did Davies ask to be paid for his story (beyond his book contract) like he did with Fox News (a demand that caused the Fox reporter to stop working with him)? How much influence does recent CBS News hire, David Rhodes—a former Fox News executive—have at "60 Minutes"? Why did "60 Minutes" producers and editors allow Logan, who has a very clear and public political agenda on this issue apparently run with it with apparently no fact checking?

Perceived personal political bias was enough for CBS to end Dan Rather's career after his story on then-candidate George W. Bush's national guard duty. Logan's story was far more harmful, not just to the families of the victims of Benghazi, but to national interests. CBS is so far refusing to acknowledge that, and refusing to hold itself and Logan accountable. An "apology" for being "misled" doesn't cover this huge journalistic malpractice, not by a long shot.

One thing I am noticing about CBS is that in recent years they have taken a much more critical view of the Obama Admin.. I am wondering if after the Dan Rather Bush memos incident they felt they had too much of a perception as being biased liberal and overreacting the other way now.

CBS has an older viewership and has for some time. I would not be surprised if that plays a large part in taking a more critical view of the Obama Administration.
