    You have to look at the size of the problem and the entrenched interests involved. A radical makeover of our health care system, for example single payer, was and still is impossible given where our society is at. At the same time the problems with the health care system prior to ACA were huge, and many are still there. An incremental approach is necessary. My hope is that the ACA warts and all will be a stepping stone to even bigger change.

    The solution was a bigger problem. ACA was done for the sake of change...much like everything else in the last 5 years.

    something that doesn't raise future Americans' debt burdens and doesn't act counter to balancing the budget. Something that stimulates the economy and hiring.

    fyi: for those spouting about change for change---about 60%+ of personal bankruptcies are caused in some part by medical debt, American spends the most per capita and gets some of the most inefficient health outcomes.

    good to see Obamacare changing the posts: even diehard skeptics have conceded the need to reform healthcare. Could single-payer be too far off?

    While there are some big problems with the rollout I don't see how the solution is worse than the previous problem. Wile a few million policies have been cancelled I would like to see how that compares to the amount of people who have insurance now when previously they would've been denied for pre-existing conditions and those under 26 who wouldn't have been able to stay on their parents policies. Those two things are not directly tied to the exchanges and are almost universally supported.

    Enrollments are low on healthcare.gov because the website sucks - not because people aren't interested. To see that, you just have to look at the state websites that do work. Kentucky has had 40,000+ signups already - as much or more than healthcare.gov - thanks to a fantastic and well-built website. When given the opportunity, people are signing up. The problem appears more technical and messaging than demand-driven.

    The majority - but that was intended (even more so than we'll actually see since a bunch of states opted out). The poor that weren't eligible are the ones that were expected to have the highest demand for health care because they are the ones that were most unable to afford it. Then the next big group are the people who really wanted health care but were denied due to pre-existing conditions or other reasons. The last group to sign up will be those that didn't have health care because it was not a priority.

    Keep in mind that none of these policies even take effect for another 2 months, so only people who are really, really excited about getting health care are going to be signing up already. And if you're not eligible for subsidies, you can just as easily sign up through EHealthInsurance.com or whatever other site - numbers that won't show up in the enrollment numbers but do have people getting health care that maybe couldn't before. There's also no reason to sign up and pay a month's worth of premiums for something you can't use for a few months anyway.
