Are you trolling? 8 games is a much too limited sample size...Post-all star Lin started playing well, him and the coaching staff said he had finally healed from his injury, and he was gelling with the team. Seems like a reasonable place to start measuring if we simply wanted a larger sample size (which we do).

I fail to see how March of last yr till now would have changed Lin by THAT much. 39% 3 pt shooting is about where he's probably at, and that's pretty darn good.

While I agree that Falcao is wrong...where on CF is he getting this made up 4th yr team option comment from? No idea where that's coming from. I'm sad to hear if it is coming from CFers in the GARM haha.

There may be a few daydreamers, but I think most people commenting on this thread realize that his current shooting percentages aren't sustainable. Numerous posters have said as much. Nevertheless, he shot extremely well during the preseason too. I'd be happy if Lin averages 38.9% from downtown from here on out (I think that was the figure you gave for his shooting since last year's all star break). That's a high percentage.

Did you even read the thread? I don't see anyone was overhyping him.

What are you talking about? Lots of NBA players can't shoot at the NBA level as rookies and sophomores. It's a skill they have to fine-tune all over again.

I don't think anybody actually expects that level of performance on any sustained basis, but it does hang like an albatross around his neck, which is why his weaknesses seem so glaring... in particular the turnovers and the driving jumping desperate mid-air passes to surprised teammates who are in no position to do anything with the ball.

I that note not many NBA player rewrite the NBA history books either in their first 7 starts.

You either have it or you don't. The IT FACTOR.

    J Lin clearly has IT.

Whether or not MCH, Morey, or Les want to utilize it is up to them.

But the ability it and talent more than a scrub is there.

Props to Lin for all his work improving his shooting in the offseason. Looks like it's paying off. Starting off in 6th-man of the year contention!

Possibly because he has been showing improvement for more than 8 games now and trending upward.

Are his percentages sustainable? no, but will they be better than last season? yes, the form has improved, and with that will come consistency.

Lin's having a good stretch. He's more focused on scoring which I think is what the team needs, and coming off the bench that's the value he can bring. So far so good, but it's so early.

People forget that Lin was a SG until he got to the NBA. He's a good scorer and now that he has learned how to shoot, I wish he would be more aggressive. I hate it when he passes up on an open shot.

Lin is a star, though not a superstar, on this Rockets team and his salary reflects that. It's just that his performances now justify his pay and he should be getting the recognition and respect from the Rockets coaching staff. If he's being made to come off the bench to accomodate their primary star, in Harden, then he should demand re-assurances about his minutes with at least 30 being a reasonable request and being given a longer leash without being yanked off for a couple of misses or turnovers. Lin needs to stop playing the nice guy and make his demands. He's playing well enough to make them. He's a Harvard business graduate so he should understand negotiating means when you have to make compromises, you also have to make sure you get something out of the it too. If he meekly submits to every team order, he'll find himself increasingly marginalised. He just played 40+ mins so maybe he already did talk to McHale about it.

Lin has been awesome this season.
Lets hope he keeps up the good work. If he can somehow sustain this level of play, we have a steal at that price tag. It's amazing how he improves season after season.

Like 25 million and a key rotational piece for a should be contender? Check and check. He is already getting the 30 minutes you want "assured" to him and why you believe he should be given a longer leash is beyond me.

Meekly submits? Every time I read stuff like that I feel as if the person posting it is projecting and talking about regrets on things they wish they had done different in their own lives. Lin is not meek and not submitting. Have you been watching him play? He is imposing his will out there and playing great basketball so far. He is not this weak minded guy his fans so often make him out to be.

And to your other point, no, his play so far has not given him the right to demand anything. The list of players in this league with that right is extremely short and I'm sorry Lin ain't there yet.

:cool:One of the top shooters and he doesn't start??? Is this sustainable? Probably not. But until there is a drop off why not ride the HOT HAND? Mch you should try to get more out of him like CP minutes. Bump Lin up from 30 min a game to 35. Then Lin about to show Mch he on CP3 level
