    That upstream on BitTorrent is because people forget to close out of it when they are downloading and don't change their upload settings. I have a hard time imagining "Muricans' know about seeding.

    I think it's more simple than that. It's because there's little on a home/work use computer that requires uploading. All the remaining top 10 items just represent commonly frequented net activities. BitTorrent is the only one that "requires" constant uploading.

    How is Netflix so high on upstreaming? Am I missing something?

    I would imagine it's also because the upstream include packets sent while people download, regardless of whether they seed after completion or not.

    But it is still a zero-sum balance. In a vacuum, you can't seed more data is being downloaded. In absolute total within a vacuum of bittorrents....it has to be 1:1. So, this has to be about crossing country boundaries.

    That has to mean that more foreigners are d/l-ing from American seeders than vice versa. It sounds odd to me, but I don't see how this can't mean more bittorrent data is leaving the country than coming into it.
