Should we look to Jeremy Lin to be our closer as opposed to James Harden?

i know it's a lot to ask but how about designing a play where the ball handler doesn't run into 3 defenders and takes the shot? or making it clear to said ball handler that if backed into a corner to pass the ball? not hard.

 

In my opinion, they should have at least a few go-to plays for Harden, Lin, and Howard, individually, though I don't think McHale prefers those over Harden iso.

Searching Reddit I don't see this question asked, however a lot of people there seem to be pretty knowledgable about basketball so I can't imagine they'd choose Lin over Harden.

 

no. harden is the best player on our team. he should close a game. our coaches need to coach him to learn what's wrong and what's right when closing a game.

Lin had a great scoring night tonight, but you do realise that he had zero assists and 5 turnovers right? So he wasn't really making that many plays for someone else, while Harden finished with 10 assists... We needed Lin's scoring tonight with James injured and sick, but Harden is the first option as long as he is healthy. Lin can do it on any given play, and he generally does a good job passing the ball, but he is still not the first option most nights.

That doesn't mean Harden should iso dribble for a quarter or more of the shot clock unless we are purposely trying to use as much clock as possible though. It means Harden should be given the first chance to look to score or create within the flow of the offense and pass it if someone else has a better opportunity.

harden becomes the pt. guard decoy late in games and lin becomes the SG...lol...role reversal.

we are not talking about who takes the last shot. closing a game means more or less who has the ball to initiate the offense in the last min or two of a game. I believe it is more accurate to define the closer role.

 

Lin's gone from PG to SG, and Starter to 6th man. No one on this team had to make more changes than he did.

 

Lin had a few assists that the stat guys didn't count in the last game. Just saying. I do agree with your other points though but I'd like for Harden to continue to keep dishing assists to those with the hot hand. I remember that OKC game last season where it took both Harden and Lin to close the game. I'd really like to see more of that this season.

 

The 38 point game against the Spurs isn't pointed out to disprove that Lin sucked or is trash or doesn't have any skill. It's to disprove your point that Lin can't do shet without Harden, because Harden was actually out that game.

Lin had a good game without harden. Hooray. Does he constantly do it? Yall are trying to make it appear as if I hate Lin. Harden is the number one option for a reason.
