I have 3 female bosses. One is super moody, one is really nice, and one is super hot and only wears leggings to work every day
I've had female superiors who were mostly relatively young, but conventionally smart: math majors, engineers, CFAs, CPAs and PMPs. I think having that extra analytical edge and somewhat objectively superior intelligence somewhat alleviates risk of bias on my part. Furthermore, as a minority I notice all the racial jokes seem to come from the guys.
Is this some kind of joke? A woman boss? It was a man who discovered the wheel and built the Eiffel Tower out of metal and brawn. That's what kind of man I am. Women have a brain a third the size of us. It's science.
I have had only a handful of bosses I'd do anything for. And that is a mix gender group. But it sure doesn't hurt if your boss is what you look for in a woman!
I've had about 50 different positions since starting with my company back in 2002. I've had men bosses and women bosses. Agree with everyone saying gender doesn't matter, it's the person. That said, I do find that I prefer a man boss. Men tell it like it is and don't pull any punches - which is the kind of person I like working for/with. The women here who have been here a while and moved into management (often by default) seem to thing their **** don't stank. A lot of them walk around like they're Donald Trump just because they have a few people reporting to them. Big fish in a small pond syndrome. The men in the same positions aren't like that at all. I can honestly say that any time I've had some sort of conflict with someone from another department, it's been a woman. It has literally NEVER been with a man. The women here tend to make mountains out of molehills where the men don't sweat the small stuff and move forward. All that said, my favorite boss since I've worked here is a woman.
Of the bosses I've worked for, known, or my wife has worked for... we both agree that men make better bosses. It's been our experience that female bosses feel the need to prove themselves and, as a result, exert too much authority.

Unfortunately women don't become bosses without being hardcore and I don't like working for those type of people.
Interesting conversation. My favorite bosses were the ones that gave me the most freedom to do what I needed to get done. At the moment I haven't seen or physically talked to my boss in a couple of months. M/F My best boss that I grew the most under would have to be my drill instructor, Humphries. M My worst boss(es) are the three ladder climbing Hilton people who were the chiefs of their one bartender. Mx3 I've had major issues with male bosses. No issues at all with female bosses.
From personal experience... a male boss and it's not even close. The female boss was a drama creating B on a power trip. The male boss is the right balance of no nonsense and professionalism.
Impossible to answer this question without being sexist. Women have a tendency to panic and get stressed out when the going gets tough. Also once a month they will be unreasonably emotional for a week. All things equal, I would prefer a male coworker.
