I don't know why people pick on Melo's defense. From eye test he's at least above average. It's just sometimes the diva is frustrated and doesn't play defense consistently. D Will and Durant are probably average or below defenders. Harden's defense is way out of those guys' league. He's not even inconsistent. He's consistently bad. Honestly, I've never seen this kind of effort on defense in professional basketball.
Superstar level hasn't been reached by harden. He is still just good enough to be on the bench at backing up kobe in allstar games. It seems he is still a two trick pony with contested 3's and only driving into the paint. He runs to the post but his lack of athletic ability keeps him grounded and easy to defend. Overall, unless he develops a midrange, learns to shoot off screens , and can play WITHOUT needing a running start to the basket, he will be a lame duck this season
man that is your opinion and definition. Doesnt mean its right or wrong. I guess their peers, ex nba players and coaches definition of a Superstar is flawed huh. LOL
I agree James Haren is overrated. Cliff Paul is more of a superstar in the sales department, but Wight Howar is getting there.
people don't seem to know the definition of superstar... examples of superstars Jordan, Lebron, Kobe, Magic, Kareem, Olajuwon, Duncan, Shaq, Durant, Grant Hill (prime pre-injury), Barkley, Wade, Nowitzki, Tmac, CP3, etc, etc Harden is an allstar and a notch below the players above. He will always just remain a star player unless he learns how to defend and turn it up a notch. Kobe as much as I dislike him always steps up to the challenge and wants to defend the opposing teams best player. harden on another hand shys away from it and the team has to figure out how to hide his defensive holes. Harden is in the same category as the Joe Johnson's of the world. Jury is still out if he can move into superstar territory but right now it's a big NO.
I think most people would say he is a budding superstar that has some glaring errors in his game. It doesn't mean he can't get there but he needs more than just flashes and actually needs to have consistency in what he is doing.
Harden currently playing hurt and is no longer considered a super star? That's crazy! I guess it's true what they say, "What have you done for me lately".
CFs are so funny. If Harden scores 30/10/6 tonight, we will see threads like..... Harden or Jordan? Where does Harden rank among best SGs of all time? Better Duo? Harden and Dwight or Kobe and Shaq?
I think this is a fair standard to hold him to...until then he's on the cusp but he needs that defensive presence.
