I live in Copperfield (529 and Spring Creek) and pockets of ghetto do exist but nowhere near as ghetto as other areas I've lived at before. It's a 3 on a scale of 10. Sharpstown is a 15 on the same scale.

I once worked off of 529. Traffic sure does suck.

The only bad parts in Sharpstown are the apartments. It's too bad there are so many of them because the neighborhoods in sharpstown are nice. It's getting better there, prices are rising. All the people being priced out are moving to areas like Fry/529.

If that's ghetto to you, then I don't know what the Third Ward and Fifth Ward are to you...Hell? If you want to argue that it's ghetto from Bellaire and Wilcrest upward, then I can agree to that. But Hwy 6 and Bellaire is pretty prosperous.

Thank you, I figured the suspects were from Gunspoint or Alief. I just submitted your 20 to HPD ;)

Was thinking white people are crazy.. and then I clicked on the link. What could possibly go wrong with over 100 people (kids at that) being in one place?! Now 2 families have to bury their kids.

Lolz at Copperfield being ghetto. I just moved to this area and it's just fine. Reminds me a lot of the League City/Clear Lake area I grew up in. I live closer to Highway 6 than Barker Cypress, and while south of 529 it gets crappier (though still far from ghetto) it is fairly nice (in a suburb, non-looper snob kind of way) north of 529.

There are some neighborhoods where you get those especially crappy KB Homes, but that's not the norm.

Hahaha. Some of you have a bad definition of what ghetto is. I grew up in 2nd ward with drive bys clearly heard regularly about 2-3 times a week.

Of course this was about 10-15 years ago before social media so I guess it doesn't count. Funny stuff.

    Really, REALLY?

Just for the record I've lived there too (right around the Bellaire China town), it's lower income but not as ghetto as say Fifth Ward.

The third ward is not even ghetto. At least north of OST/90 and south of Elgin. There are neighborhoods that look like river oaks. So much new construction and remodeling going on too.

Yeah, but they are surrounded on all sides by the projects. I lived in that area for a while and you can clearly see the differences just a few blocks from each other.

I had the pleasure of living in the hwy 6 @ 529 area and it ain't ghetto but it is certified ****ty. I wouldn't move back there for a million dollars. I didn't even realize how depressed that place made me until I got my ass back to the Woodlands.

    North sieeeeede!

Some of you need to travel more. Very few places in Houston other than in the Fifth Ward would be classified as ghetto. However, the really rough areas that I've been in have been in LA, Chicago, Detroit, New Orleans, and Memphis.

Those are the true ghettoes/wastelands. They are the kind of places where police officers only go during the day, riding in pairs, wearing bulletproof vests, and carrying shotguns.

Those are classic ghettos, where all of the action takes place out in the streets.

In places like Alief, Gunspoint and Fondren SW, most of the danger lies in the numerous apartment complexes. The single family neighborhoods in the area are usually OK to nice. These areas wouldn't have turned out so bad if not for the overbuilding of apartments.

Hahaha some of these posts are crazy. Everything between Eldridge and Fry, Clay and what? is ghetto?

That includes some middle class, upper middle class white neighborhoods. Copperfield (UM), Bear Creak (MC) two examples. It's not like it's upscale or anything, but it's fine.

Boring "ghetto or non-ghetto" arguments aside, what did these people expect when you advertise a party AT YOUR HOUSE on social media and tell everyone they're invited?

I'm trying to think when it would ever make sense to throw a party and invite a bunch of strangers into your house. So many that you'd have to have a bouncer at your front door. I guess I can understand if you rented a hall or something....but your own house??
