LIN SHOULD START - Calvin Murphy said this on CSN. Wanted to share what he said after the game in post game on csn, (really cool show ! Bs everyone can't watch it) know most of you don't have the channel but thay asked him what needs to happen what should rockets do at this point. He said you bring in Bev for defense and a spark off the bench, set a defensive tone & let Lin start game by getting players involved. - Just wanted to share what Calvin said because we only hear GARM and bloggers (most who never played basketball ) opinions on it, so wanted to share what the rockets hall of famer had to say on moves the team needs to make at this point I really don't know what is best, Lin as 6th man Bev as 6th man, who should start etc. not a Bev vs Lin thread I like both, but I do think Lin will be traded this year & asik.
Lin should start. The reason is simple: against the top teams, Harden's ISO won't work and we need team plays to break down defense. Another reason is if Lin doesn't start no one will listen to him. Why would superstars listen to a bench player?
Oh yeah and CSN is really a good show they were in Rudy T house other day had a long interview with him talking about old days and what he does now, which is scout players for LA once again it's some BS people can't watch it, Rudy T had cancer and was rushed into coaching that laker team he talked about that also on how it was a mistake
It's not like they currently listens to any other starter or coaches for that matter. Our superstars are nothing but spoiled, rotten, selfish divas.
But but but if Jeremy starts, who's going to dig the Rockets out of the hole? I don't want Jeremy playing alongside TT and Harden. He can PnR well with Asik.
Calvin doesn't know what he's talking about. Just last season, he was saying that the Jeremy Lin the PG should be starting plays and James Harden the SG should be finishing them. He couldn't even tell that James Harden was the actual PG and should be starting plays and finishing them while Jeremy Lin is in essence, a spot-up shooting guard. And now he claims that Patrick Beverley, the second best PG in the team after James Harden, should be coming off the bench for a bench player in Jeremy Lin? Calvin totally doesn't understand basketball
don't be bothered about who starts, a 6th man is an important role of a team, think about Bobby Jackson, think about Manu Ginobili, think about Jason Terry. but I'm sure Harden would fit a 6th man role perfectly.
I could careless either one could start that's not going to just turn the team around both guys play good basketball
Asik and Howard started the third quarter together and the Rockets played pretty incredible and built a lead. It was after that that things started falling apart. It's the chemistry overall. No matter what lineup is out there things are just not coming together. Starting Casspi at the four won't solve a whole lot. It's the STYLE of play that's hurting us...no ball movement, no body movement, little energy, etc. Personally I think a lot of that has to do with Howard. This team is geared toward (and plays its best) with an up-tempo style; having to slow it down to feed Dwight in the post disrupts that type offense; and so everything becomes disorganized as the team tries to incorporate two very contrasting styles at the same time.
Who starts is irrelevant imo. Last year when Lin was the starting PG, we had quite a few games too where we'd start off slow and dig ourselves in a hole and where there was a lack of offensive fluidity at times.
this sounds right, our run & gun was bread and butter last year, we would have ran that lakers team out the gym the other day
Just like Howard and Asik shouldn't ever be on the court at the same time, Harden and Lin also shouldn't be on the court at the same time. Morey knows that and that's why he tried to ship both Lin and Asik in the offseason. It's just too bad the Clips were able to get Rivers and convinced CP3 to stay. If you start him Lin, watch his PER magically regress back to the average or even below average.
there you go. howard could run with them and be the trailer dish out monster jams but apparently in the team practice it's all about half court for the first unit.
