are you aware that Steve Francis was acquired by trade in the first place?

Lebron James was signed as a free agent/ do you consider him trash? Clippers acquired Chris Paul in a trade. Trash also?

Yea, they won it with Shaq who came from the Lakers... Houston won one with Clyde who they traded for. Robert Horry has a lot of rings being on three different teams. Sheed Wallace won one with Detroit in 04. The Bulls brought in Dennis Rodman. Some free agents some trades... I believe the Lakers even traded for Kareem back in the day and won a bunch with him... So apparently wall street and the NBA do not apply... Now if you want to bring up some of Morey's bad draft decisions... Different story... And Ray Allen left Boston and won with Miami. Last year's Miami team only had like 3 players they actually drafted...

What had Steve Francis accomplished? What Chris Paul has accomplished so far? Has the clippers ever won anything significant?

Are you serious? The Rockets never even made the playoffs with Martin.

The only team I can think of that won championship(s) with two (or more) star players that they drafted is San Antonio and Chicago with Jordan and Pippen. And I guess the 80's Lakers if Worthy is considered a star...

Wade didn't win a championship until they got Shaq. Then didn't get another one until they got LBJ & Bosh. Now if you want to build through the draft, just ask Cleveland, Detroit, Washington & Sacramento how that's working. I would've added Charlotte to that list, but they traded for Al Jefferson over the summer & I like their team this year.

How many times have the Indiana Pacers and/or the Oklahoma City Thunder been to the finals? One time. Championships? None. Different ways work for different teams. The NBA is the most superstar dominated league.

This might be the worst thing I've ever read from top to bottom.

I'm old school, so I like the idea of keeping a team together... half the time, team chemistry is the biggest problem due to new faces all the time...

NBA teams are revolving doors now, and the Rockets will probably have had half the league pass through within a season or two...

What about Minnesota's team? The team with the same record as us?

its not a comment on draft vs trade. the OP was commenting on how there always seems to be greener grass on the other side. instead of working to improve the players and trying to get the best out of them, there is a mentality to give up and always try and get something "better" to replace them.

as mentioned, greg smith is the perfect example. he has the physical gifts to be a great player, but is still very raw. you get the sense that if his talent is cultivated, there may be something really special there. instead he's rotting away on the bench. we're playing with our shiny new toy howard and gave up on smith just like that. the last few reg season games last season started with him posting up and scoring. now? might as well be in street clothes every night...

no im not saying greg is as good as howard, but lets watch and see if he gets ANY minutes besides garbage time or asik & howard foul trouble....

Heat - LeBron, Bosch, Ray Allen, etc......
Mavs - Jason Terry, Tyson Chandler, Shawn Marion
Lakers - Kobe, Shaq, Pau etc...
    Celtics - KG, Ray Allen
Detroit - Richard Hamilton, Ben Wallace, Rashees Wallace, Chauncy Billups

Your theory is flat at false. If anything, teams not named San Antonio absolutely have to be able to acquire talent via trades and free agency.

Yeah I think this is the most important thing to be taken out of this thread, chemistry. It's not black and white, we needed to make deals to get quality players, but you also need to decide on a culture or identity when drafting/acquiring players.

You can argue the whole Pierce/Garnett, or the big 3 in Miami, but those had already been through alot of tribulation and growth by the time they got together, not so with Harden, and Howard is very slow to mature.

Players like Hayes, Scola, Battier etc despite not having superior talent gave this team a hardworking mentality full of heart and save for Garcia, it doesn't feel like we have that anymore.

You can even see it in the fans too, "Oh lets just make an uneven trade for LaMarcus Aldridge and that'll solve all our problems." "Ryan Anderson will solve all our problems".

This team has alot of problems internally already, why would Aldridge want to come here, or Ryan Anderson who is still grieving for that matter. Just to play with superior talent? I think most players would rather be in a happier environment.

Every single one of Morey's trades have made us a better team. Are you content in having a mediocre team like we've had before Harden came here?
