Would they really? I think Morey would... But I'm not sure if Nets would want to lose an elite PG (who might just become the key to their championship success) for a mediocre one in Lin. And Parsons is kind of redundant next Johnson/Kirilenko. Asik would get Chicago Bulls minutes behind Brook lopez.

I think the money is not an issue for the Nets as they are trying to win now, so I'm not even going to mention that they would have to pay $30M for a backup C and a mediocre PG next year. Oops.

I don't see a good/great PG to be had. Of the two that could be traded, Lawson is too expensive and Rondo doesn't fit.

I would not be surprised if the Rockets are waiting on Ryan Anderson to heal and play a little.

Asik for Ryan Anderson and Jason Smith/Greg Stiemsma

    Beverley / Lin
    Harden / Brooks
    Parsons / Garcia
    Anderson / Casspi
    Dwight / Smith or Stiemsma

PG to me is not a problem at all whatever rumors cyberx might float. Jeremy Lin didn't have any problem playing with Tyson Chandler, why should he have a problem playing with Dwight? Patrick Beverley is a D and threes guy who hustles in the open court, and that's just fine. We have a solidly above average point guard rotation.

We need a power forward who can play decent defense and space the floor a little bit. That's all it really comes down to.

I tend to agree with this mostly. However, I do see where PG could be seen as a problem with Dwight. Jeremy makes a lot of bone headed plays that don't happen on a championship team. For example, when driving he loses the ball more so than average. Also, he gets in the air without knowing what he is going to do with the ball way too much. Beverly on the other hand is a great defensive guard but lacks the ability to really create his own shot. You wouldn't think that would be much of a problem playing next to Harden but it really is. Outside of Harden only Parsons and Lin have the ability to really create their own shot.

I would like to see us pick up a point guard who can create his own shot, nail his jumpers and play some defense. Doesn't have to be an elite defender but at least serviceable. Without thinking too much into it, Dragic and Calderon come to mind.

Our most immediate need is definitely a power forward though. Definitely needs to be able to go and defend stretch fours as well as have some post defense abilities. I'd be curious to see if Gallinari could fit but it would take a lot to get him. Jeff Green might fit as well however he is pretty thin to defend the post. He could be had fairly easily but is not worth Asik alone. Maybe Asik + Dmo for Green + Faverani. If we do move Asik it is absolutely essential that we receive a back up center in the trade.

In conclusion we are obviously weakest at those two positions and while there are some options that probably could be made it may be prove worthy to wait for a player to chose to sign here and not lose valuable pieces along the way

Anyone have opinions on any of these guys:
    Alexy Shved
    Pablo Prigioni
    Jonas Jerebko
    Kenneth Faried
    Miles Plumlee

I am just not very familiar with these guys. Just wanted to know their styles of game and if any of them would be good fits for this team.

It's called trying to make something happen. Bev doesn't take nearly as many risks, and it shows in his lack of playmaking.

Shved - quite athletic for a white guy. Can create his own shot, do some playmaking at PG at times. Better defender than Harden (which might not say much), offensively has the potential to be a pretty decent scorer. Good role player, not really a starter.
Prigioni - old veteran PG, has *****load of experience, can play limited defense. Not really a scorer, has an average jumpshot all the way to the 3pt line.
Jonas Jerebko - don't know much about him.
Kenneth Faried - hustle machine, super high motor, elite rebounder, great finisher near/at the rim. Poor defender.
Miles Plumlee - don't know much about him.

I have been watching and playing basketball since the late 80's. Thank you for your take though...
Ever consider that Lin may be forcing himself into those situations by trying too hard?

Thanks, the little I have seen of Shved, I really liked. That is why asked. Minnesota looks like they could use another big for insurance behind Love/Pek/Williams. I wonder if they would do something based around TJones or DMo for Shved.

Plumlee has played decently well so far and was interested in him if we could go Phoenix to do something based around Asik+Cannan for Dragic+Plumlee. Probably would have to move Lin for this trade to make sense but I really think Dragic is a better fit on this roster.

Too many PFs maybe, but no quality PFs. Getting Bass would be a huge boost.

But they aren't going to get Rondo and Bass for Asik and a bunch of nothing.

I think a lot of people might be overselling the Rockets 2014 pick to themselves. It may be an "epic draft" but it's not an epic pick. I see people making it top 10 protected or top 5 protected in these trade ideas, as if lowering protection makes it very valuable. The Rockets aren't going to be a lottery team.

The trade for Rondo would be Asik and Lin. I'd bet Danny would do it too. And no Bass. It would have to be Rondo, KHump, and Bogans expiring deal for Asik, Lin, parts.

I've been saying this for awhile now, Rondo is the best value superstar possibly available simply because of his contract. Lebron isn't available. Paul George isn't available. Rondo is the best superstar player possibly available because of his contract.

But you talk about changing the chemistry?? That trade would generate a season-long lab experiment in team chemistry. The free throw thing with Rondo and Dwight wouldn't be the issue. Rondo is simply too smart for that. He keeps his free throw count minimal. And he's not bad enough to foul intentionally and put on the line. The real fun would be in watching those 3 guys....Harden, Rondo, and Dwight work out how they are going to play together.

I think everyone is available at certain price but all these pennies on the dollar Rondo deals make little sense to me. I don't see the positive angle for Boston there. "Lets make sure we win 35 games and get stuck in mediocrity?"

We need to go for milsap this December when he's eligible. He can stretch out the floor a bit to unclog the lanes. Atlanta needs a center to move hord

Horford to the 4 spot. He seemed pissed they didn't get a real center this offseason

Boston does Have to blow it up. At least with Lin you can be popular while tanking, wasn't that Moreys initial plan?
