Just checking the latest synergy defensive PPP stats

    Lin - 64th - 0.79 PPP - 33.3 FG% (16/48)
    Beverley - 182nd - 1.26 PPP - 55.2 FG% (16/29)

As I said before, aggressive ball pressure D is fool's gold.

Lin started the season last year in the top 100 too but he fell off a bit towards the end. I hope he keeps it up this time around. It's obvious to me his offensive woes toward the beginning last year were due in large part to his recovery from surgery.

Remember when starting Bev meant McHale didn't like Lin and that Lin wouldn't get much more than 18-20 minutes a game and wouldn't ever be closing out games?

Some people were so sure of it too

You don't have to pay attention to those "some people" when they were sure with absolutely no basis and they were wrong. McHale liked Bev more, so what? Why should that incensed Lin fans so much? Lin is getting a nice paycheck to do what he loves to do. I hope that he is ignoring all the noise and focus on coming off the bench so that he has more freedom to play to his own strengths. He needs to build up confidence, so playing against the second units is great for him.

And somebody was as also sure that Lin will be controlling the ball when he come as a "6th" man. The truth is : there is no room for a 6th man on this rockets. There simply are not that many minutes available.

Lin is not playing a 6 man, he is a bench player who plays a lot of minutes.

6 game is a small sample size, we will see how his stats compares to Bev's after 3 more games: by that time both Lin and Bev each has 4 games under their belt as the starting PG.

Remember when people said Lin coming of the bench would mean he would have a full quarter on the court by himself with the ball in his hands without harden.

Some people were sure of that too.

The minutes are available but it's just that Lin is on the floor with Harden at the same time, and that's just him giving up the ball to Harden, so there's not really a lot of control given to him. no matter what Lin's minutes will coincide with hardens. On the Clips, Crawford just jacks up shots and same with JR. Lin is a team player kind of guy. Will have to see how this unfolds

indeed. When Harden is on the court (averaging 40 minutes/game), he has the ball. When Harden sits, Bev (and sometimes Parsons) feels the need to have the ball. Kind of hard to run the offense when you don't have the ball.

You are saying Lin does not have the gut to play against the first unit? He said he wants to start himself.

Mchale makes him the backup PG. Do not sugarcoat it as if he has a lot of minutes to LEAD the second unit. There is no second unit in our current rotation.

You guys have to accept the fact that Lin is now a role player off the bench. We are not going to play team offense or HH PnR as our major offensive weapon.

harden is playing 35+ per game and the you add parsons and Bev who are actually running the offense when harden is not there. Compare Lin s ast number to last year. There is obviously something wrong.

I've always felt that the 6th man is a person that should be a ball hogg to spark things.
My opinion is that Harden started off the 6th man where he has a lot of opportunity to ISO. I think he should be off the bench a la manu and Lin should be starting to get the other players going. But since he is getting MAx money that probably forces Lin to be 6th man - and my view of the 6th man is to be selfish and get the ball into the hole, that will have many people viewing lin in a negative light.

for example JR smith/J.Crawford/ and Nate Robinson.

maybe Bev should go 6th man since he obviously has no problem jacking up shots.

Thanks, we will have to keep an eye on this. From the stats and the eye test so far this season, Lin's been playing very good defense. I've been very impressed with his improvements on just about every weakness, except turnovers.

Still, Bev has hardly played yet and is coming off an injury. More time is needed to make any meaningful comparison.

Here's my opinion.. Asik and Howard should be on the court together, only to substaine the lead. Which means Asik comes off the bench and it obviously fixes the slow starts.

"Well, originally, I think Steve [Blake] was going to set a pick for me, but I noticed my guy wasn't going to leave me so I could set Steve up for an easy shot. I just tried to set a double screen, and use my man to set a double screen on his guy. ... I saw him come off [the screen] wide open, he got his feet set, and I was like, 'This has got a chance.'"

    Steve Nash

Nash used Beverley's defense to set a double screen for Blake.

Beverley hasn't enough experience to handle this.
