McHale and the team have to learn from what's been going on early in the season or this staff will be under more scrutiny than they ever have been since they have been here. This team has more talent and he won't get a pass because the team is young. It also doesn't look like he is handling or helping Dwight's game all that well either. A lot of things are on Dwight to change and get better but McHale has mismanaged Dwight along the way already. The offense doesn't move or get Dwight in favorable positions to succeed (pnr, lobs, etc.) Speaking of lobs, they need to start practicing lobs because the team absolutely sucks at it. Again its sooo many deficiencies that continue to present themselves with the coaching with a more talented team this year. I said last year I would be willing to see how McHale does with better talent to barometer about his coaching and I'm still not convinced he will be the coach to put the team in position to truly contend for championship. Hope I'm wrong and its early but the same issues over McHale tenure here have not improved so why should I feel differently at this point.
We have no 6 man. And our problem is the starting line up not playing PnR. The argument that H&H is the best PnR now seems to ironic because we are not playing much PnR at all!
IN addition to harden ISO, we now have Howard iso and parsons ISO. We are not Houston Rockets, we are Houston Iso!
McHale the pathetic coach costs us another game yet again. Even MDA is a better coach than McHale. Very few coaches in th league who can't out coach mcHale MDA ran some real plays and had a game plan
I like McHale, have nothing but respect for him as a player and a person. That being said . . . McHale seems to have no control over this team and worse has no one's respect. This team needs a fundamentals coach that can have the respect of the players and run a tight ship. Our current situation will yield no championships and tons of frustration.
Good point. And also Lin is not running the 2nd unit at all, Harden runs every unit rofl. Lin has no control over the team, it's all Harden. Dat ball movement.
yall didnt watch the memphs game last year at the end of season at home ? mchale should have been gone
a smart coach would have put brewer in there for that play blake hit, what was the point of having bev in there???? why did brewer make roster for defense and we dont use him for it when we need him??????????
im just glad all this happened early its time for fans and mchale to wake up. I saw this last year with the rockets thought it was going to be better this year from what the coaching staff was saying on getting the ball out harden hands and him working on defense.
I'm gonna wait 10 more games to see if any adjustments are made by the coach before I decide to jump on this bandwagon.
it's difficult when the coaches become "enablers" and participate in making the stars "untouchable", sooner or later, implosion will happen if the coaches do not wrest control or authority back. the Heat only started a sustained run of winning when Lebron and co. finally started listening to their coach, who, in fairness, never seemed to pander to the superstar tendencies of his players. it's crazy when Mchale cannot tell Harden off -- for most of last year he kept using "stickiness" but never mentioned Harden by name as if he was a villain from a Harry Potter movie. and who else's responsibility is it to tell players to step up their defensive effort, or to follow plays that are called, or to berate players who ignore the plays?
JVG has talked at length about how if your superstar does not have the personality to lead a team, the coach needs to step in and set the tone for the team. It is no coincidence that the team Dwight Howard led to the finals was coached by JVG's brother, someone who stepped into that role. Unfortunately, we are saddled with two very talented but uninspiring superstars. This is nothing that hasn't been said before, but Harden looks like a homeless crackhead on defense and then breaks plays for his Cuttino Mobley/Steve Francis-era ISO plays on offense. Howard is listless on offense unless a play is called for him, and, while an elite defensive player, he does not hold his teammates accountable for their lack effort on D. When I look at our bench now, I see a Hall-of-Famer who's a player's coach. He's used to the accountability of Bird, Parish, etc. He's not used to having a coach police his players because when he played, they didn't need it. Now, he's doing nothing but babysitting a two immature stars and allowing them to run the team. Sadly, he doesn't know what else to do. I really think that Morey is biding his time until he can get rid of McHale this offseason. He knows the character of his stars, and he has a close enough relationship with JVG to understand that not all great-talent comes with great leadership abilities. Just wait, we will bring in a new, more disciplined coach next year, and we're going to take the next step.
