Is Jeremy fairly/unfairly being treated as the scapegoat?

Lin's situation is starting to remind me of OJ Mayo in Memphis

    - Mayo puts up big numbers in his 1st year, has a lot of hype before Hollins becomes his coach (same for Lin, pre-McHale).
    - Hollins takes over, never really seems to like OJ much (same for McHale and Lin, as Lin's hoopla - and the fact much of his criticism comes from Lin fans, has likely worn on him).
    - Starting lineup had too much offense with Randolph/Gasol/Gay/Conley already, they needed a scorer off the bench (same for Houston and Lin, with Harden/Dwight/Parsons)
    - Mayo is replaced by an athletic defender/intangibles guy - fan favorite Tony Allen (same for Houston, as Beverley is that guy).
    - Hollins keeps Mayo on a much shorter leash than Gay/Conley etc, and Mayo's performances and effort start to suffer (Lin seems like he's on shorter leash as well, we'll see if the same happens with him - though he plays PG, so unlike Mayo, who wasn't getting consistent touches, he's in a better position to get in rhythm).
    - Mayo plays a key role on 2 playoff teams, but is clearly underutilized, and serves as the scapegoat when things go wrong (???)
    - Mayo's name gets thrown around in trade rumors constantly, but Memphis keeps him around for 2 years until his contract runs out (???)

And I'm usually critical of Lin, while I've been a big Mayo fan since his HS days...I just see a lot of parallels here. I just think that Lin's getting the **** end of the stick (not because he's coming off the bench, but because it seems like he's being treated as the scapegoat), like Mayo did in Memphis. The team may benefit from it, but it's tough on him.

That being said, the main thing that pisses me off is how quick LOF are to bash Beverley. He's not the enemy. He's a great role player/teammate who happens to be one of Lin's best friends on the team.

I'm of the opinion that there may be some truth to McHale wanting Lin
to fail cos if so, it would mean that he was right about Lin the first time.

Maybe not explicitly want him to, but possibly subconsciously.
This, bearing in mind what a competitor McHale is and assuming
he hates to be wrong based on this competitiveness.

Disagree with this. I think McHale is quite OK with Jeremy, wants him to succeed even.

McHale's problem is that he can't control Harden. All that god damned complacency on defense and hero ISO-ing has GOT TO STOP!

It's only a theory, based on his weird (to me) subs of Lin, esp when he had
the hot hand, but admittedly, I dont think this has happened this season,
    yet. Was mostly last year.

But you're probably right, his want to win is probably way greater than
his need to be right the first time about Lin.

Lin is playing really well, the only problem I feel is that the ball sticks with Harden WAY too long. There is no ball movement on the team. Dump into post or let Harden Iso. there are no screens. Looking at Lakers, Nash gets so many screens and it allows him to drive and dish to an open man. Lin doesn't get that opportunity - the team seems to stand there to wait for the ball. I remember one time Lin was driving right, but Dwight stood down low and blocked Lin's path and demanded the ball. ffs. Team has to play team ball. We rely too much on the stars

It all goes back to the coaching staff. If Van Gundy was calling the shot, he'd put somebody in the dog-house for sure.

The million dollar question is if everyone on the team (save your super stars) gets yelled at. If everyone gets yelled at then this is a non story. It's just being blown out of proportion because Lin is a visible public figure.

    Yes he is.

He should be starting for this team period. Bev is not that much better on defense and is a negative offensively. No ball movement when Bev is in the team.

Forget all this nonsense and start your 5 best players

    Lin
    Harden
    Parsons
    Howard
    Asik

What is wrong with you people!

It's the sixth game of the season. We're 4-2. There may still be some issues to work out. Did you expect a young team with a new superstar to be clicking on all cylinders immediately?

It was a frustrating loss. They happen. Lin and Howard appeared to be discussing things at the end of the game, not yelling at each other.
Earlier in the game they were showing bromance-like body language, with Lin even cupping his hand on Dwight's cheek. If harsher words were spoken than I saw, big deal: that happens after frustrating losses.

Lin is playing great (19 PER, 178 win share/48) as the starter or the sixth man and getting his minutes in either role. It appears that he and the team have figured out how he can contribute in a big way despite the overlap of his and Harden's skill set. Why, in God's name, would anyone be talking about trading him?

The LOHs and the worst of the LOFs are annoying, but let's not let them ruin what's going to be a fun season for Rocket fans.

Just like sometimes family members yell at each other, the relationship among these guys may be that close. No big deal.

But I do think Lin is not being treated in a correct way by the coaching staff and the organization. And this may affect how his teammates treat him also.

Pop is fair with all his players. Danny Green didn't play well the first few games and he played under 20 mins a game. I remember one time in the 1st quarter, Green got pulled at 1 min into the game because he lost his guy for an open shot. But then last night he played well he gets mid-30 mins. The way Harden plays defense.... he'll get pulled out in less than 5 minutes every game.

Good that it is only the sixth game this season. But it doesn't mean we can wait and solve the problems until last six games.

Someone needs to stands out and take the responsibility, rather than yelling at each other.
