Even I would've subbed Howard out for Asik or a 4 after they started employing hack a Howard. Asik doesn't choke at the FT line down the stretch. And McHale really needs to bring Harden in line. He's getting out of control with his ISOs/heroball. You can tell Parsons and Lin are getting a bit sick of it.
Howard's 5/16 free throw shooting was the main reason that Rockets lost the game. Howard is a complete scrub on both ends of the floor.

Howard and his horrible free throw shooting is a major problem for this team. No way this team can win playoff series with Howard shooting free throws at end of games. Unfortunately, Smith and Asik are terrible free throw shooters also.
Just looking at the box score you can tell how stupid the coach is, Bev 1-10, yet still got more minutes than a 5-8 Lin, who still got 10x less touches than a 9-24 Harden, lol.
If he paid attention to detail, he would have told the guys during the time out to not inbound the ball to Howard. They had 53 seconds left and could have ran out a lot of time, but of course Parsons passes him the ball. No one realized how dumb that was, and that's on the coach!
He's getting by on Harden's talent. He doesn't know how to run offensive set plays and is way too stubborn with his rotations.
The things I think were mistakes are we shouldn't have been guarding the paint. Laker have been hitting their 3s and a 3 in that situation kills you. With a 2, at least you have a chance to win it or overtime. And we had a 20 second time out left. Bev or McHale should have known and called it when it looked like we weren't going to get anything. Parsons inbounds was dumb. And so was Harden's last ISO when he should have attacked instead. We gave them so many chances to steal this one and in the NBA you can't let teams have that many chances or else they will make you pay, no matter if it's Kobe taking the shot or Steve Blake. Championship teams do not allow all these chances especially to an inferior team.
McHale will have a short lease with this team because expectations are higher. McHale and staff look like they are not getting through to the team because they are making the same mistakes over and over and over. Inexcusable. You take Dwight out when the start fouling him that's what most competent coaches do them sub in if need be for rebounding purposes.
