It just seems like such an arbitrary distinction you are making. CP3 is a fine scorer for a PG, and he's capable of going for 30+ on any night. This is no different than HOF PGs like Magic or Isiaih, who were pass-first guys who just as ball dominant as Paul. The fact is that teams know that Paul can get wherever he wants on the floor so they have to gameplan around him, which leads to lots of traps and doubles, which leads to passes. When they play him straight up, he destroys whomever is on him (which doesn't always lead to a score.. most of "lob city" comes when Paul breaks down his man and has a free lane to the hoop). As it stands, the Rockets are a bad matchup for the Clippers (I explained above). But we've played 4 games so it really doesn't mean all that much. I would think Howard would be a bigger factor for you guys and as IMO he's the best defender in the league, that should make a difference. It'll probably take another year for the Rockets to properly gell though. The Clippers are further along and I fully expect them to at least go to the WCF this year.
That's ridiculous. If anything, a PG scoring that much would be indicative of a failure in the system. Magic and Isiah never came anywhere close to that during their runs. You seem to think that during the playoffs teams will just lock down on everyone and single cover Paul to try to turn him into Iverson. If that is such a good strategy, they would do it during the regular season too. It doesn't work because Paul can break anyone off the dribble and teams aren't going to give him layups, so they'll collapse, which leads to other players scoring. The playoffs are not that different from the regular season. If the Clippers happen to draw a slow-plodding grind it out team like the Grizz again, it'll be tougher, but not insurmountable. With other teams like the Rockets, Warriors, and Nuggets, they play a similar style better so it's more in their favor.
Off topic. clippy. I don't mind you being a Clippers homer. We all are homers. As long as you don't troll, we welcome fans of other teams on this board. BUT, please stay away from the game thread when the Rockets are playing the Clippers. That's like sitting in the middle of a bunch of the opponent's fans and talk trash. The only reason why you were not getting punched was because we couldn't punch you over the internet.
Cool man. For some reason I expected you to be a half clips/rockets fan. Just was curious. Thats the reason I visit Realgm forums too. I like to see other peoples discussions/opinions even though that forum is filled with a bunch of douches
It's ridiculous to think you can't win a ring with CP3. You just need Griffin to elevate his game to superstar level, which he hasn't done.
Ha I did just remember that Barkley never won anything. Griffin has looked really good this year. You think he has improved Clippy? Looks like a more fine tuned player this year.
Has to be on both ends. He and Jordan just gave up 30/20 to an opposing big man. So no, the Clips have a long way to go.
