if its about who would have my ALLSTAR vote becasue thats a offense thing and puts people in the seast then of course harden.... but if im talking about playoffs give me a unselfish paul george that will play both sides of the court and be our Perimeter defense man for warriors, clippers, okc. i see alot of rockets fans think offense is the key, wasnt any ISo in clutch city if dream didnt have it he would kick it back out and role players would step up.
George > Harden this season so far and in the future. I think Harden's work ethnic is questionable. I just don't like players' names associated with strip clubs. On the other hand, Paul George is known for his hardworking personality, with Kobe being his idol.
I would take George simply because he's more of a complete player (offense and defense) and prefers to play within the system rather than iso. I hate iso ball and even if you have the skills to pull it off. Reminds me a lot of the Stevie Franchise days where he'd dribble down the shot clock and then jacks up an insane shot. It's exciting but won't get us to the next level. Looking at how George competed and stepped up against Lebron in last year's playoffs, you know George can perform under pressure. I'm not sure if Harden has the mental toughness.
Paul George and its not even close. Just a tad worse offensively (although a better 3 point shooter this season) and much better on defense and intangibles. PG is an elite perimeter defender (top 3) while Harden is one of the worst perimeter defenders (bottom 5 on par with KMart) and is a negative on defense.
George obviously is the better two way player and his game has matured. I haven`t really watched him much this season, but last year he was a great offensive player, but not elite and not really able to create his own shot at a consistent rate. Harden is an elite offensive weapon with a complete offensive game (drive, 3s, midrange although he seldomly has to use it, drawing fouls and hitting freethrows, passing, creating for himself and others) - but with really bad defense. Last year he was atrocious - this year he was really good at times and atrocious at other times. So I think it has a lot to do with motivation, energy and commitment. He won`t ever be an elite defender, but he can be a really good one. He just has to show it on a consistent basis and also show, that using his energy on defense don`t take away too much of his offensive firepower. In the end they would be perfect to play together on the same team. But I still would take Harden. I would take the elite offensive player over the great offensive, elite defensive wing player - simply because you can hide Hardens shortcomings with a great team around him, but when the game is on the line and you need the score you can rely more on him than on George. So, George is the better overall player, Harden is the more valuable first option on a team, at least in my opinion.
I like Harden and I'm happy with the the team the Rockets have put together. I would take George over Harden in a heartbeat. Not only does George play defense, he is the best rebounding small forward since Larry Legend. Complete package!
I'd still rather have Harden. Paul George's name is too generic. Ain't no stars with two common first names!
nobody iso like harden, It was all good last game in the 4th when the shots were falling due to lack of defense, but if you notice blazers were making a comback because of our Perimeter defense. Dont get me wrong i like it when the shots are falling but no one does it in the playoffs, not even LEBRON he will lean on wade bosh ray... harden type of player that will do it trying to win the game but if we lose CF will be like awww harden just had a off night, which players do have off nights but they know when to get off the gas step up play more defense and get their teammates involved
They seem to always end in 20 foot fade away jumpers, i really have no idea what's up with that, whilst there's no rule that says you can't get hot for a few games, the law of averages on a shot like that is bound to catch up with you.
It´s not about isos! Harden can create shots, both for himself and others. Not just in iso situations, also pick and rolls, drives to the basket, off the ball screens - the whole defense concentrates on Harden and contrary to what some believe here, he is a very willing passer. So when the defense collapses on him, he will dish the ball out. Harden is way better in all those stuff than George. When you need to score, you want the ball in Harden`s hands, not in Georges. And that`s the reason I would take him over George. With George you need another elite shot creator on the team - with Harden you need good shooters, an elite paint protector and at least one, better two great wing defenders to hide his deficiencies. Well there ain`t too many elite shot creators in the league, and all of them are stars - there are also not too many elite paint protectors, but good thing is we have two. And there are several great wing defenders, and we might have two in Beverly and Parsons - even Lin has improved greatly in that department.
If you watch the game, he isn't beating people off the dribble. It's more so a first step by a guy after good ball movement. I think he is stiff in the hips, and that limits a bit of his quickness. Harden makes quick work of his opponents.
correct u made my point more clear if u read a few post from earlier. bev lin george > bev harden parsons yes i know its not about ISO i know harden can do more screens, pick and rolls etc but understand that Mchale is our coach not doc, pop, rick etc.... we do that here but not consisent, mchale does not have those plays drawn up, harden had to do alot last year and mchale let him and that trend is going to continue can tbreak it now because he got comfortable and is no know as a superstar while doing it...
What makes anybody think PG numbers will go down. You people don't know that. The Pacers just paid this man a nice hefty contract extension and from the looks of it, they have given him the green light to do more on the offense side of the ball. Now three things can happen: His numbers could stay the same. His numbers could increase some. Or his numbers could decrease. Time will tell.
