Wow parsons has let the media get to his head. He's got to fix his shot before he even thinks about making plays.
Thanks, good read. So he tries to be a complete player - play in the post, play-make, shoot, defend etc. I guess he is looking for a big contract! He's gotta remember tho that, what is most important for him is to take care of what he's good at: fast breaks, defense and: Unfortunately it has been pretty flat so far. Nice stats. OP: On court objectively so far: Lin. Unfortunately subjective decision makers can't see that or don't like that much. So in the near future, it'd probably be anyone but him.
In terms of what? The guy that is contributing the most in many facets after Harden who is first mostly for his offense/scoring/playmaking and some rebounds and steals, and Howard for his defense, rebounds and some post offense, is Lin. For me it's a no brainer. He's good on defense, steals, best in dribble penetration and finding open men, solid in the PnR, best in starting and finishing a fast break by himself or assisting and is just a very dynamic player and a draw for other teams to try to limit. He doesn't have to score much, though he can at times. He can get Dwight, Parsons, Casspi, pretty much anyone going alongside Harden or when Harden's on the bench. In terms of versatility of scoring, some handling and penetration and defense when he feels like it, it's Parsons but I see him behind Lin a bit for next impact after H and H. Asik is 4 I guess due to his presence in the low block and defense, but defense wise he's probably 2nd. The rest are impact players. Beverley is fantastic in that he's everywhere, crashing the boards and getting tip-ins, elevating to block even big men's shots, steals, plays disruptive defense and has very sure handles and can get his points with jump shots and a drive now and then and utilize floaters well, so he's probably the biggest impact player off the bench overall if he's off the bench but Cisco is big too to bring instant offense, knock down threes, and a good veteran presence while playing some defense. Casspi is also contributing well to the team.
If you are talking up until this point and overall contributor to wins it has to be Lin. He is also the most consistent. He creates his own shot and shots for others and his defense and shooting is vastly improved. Really it's a no brainer pick. It's so obvious that even McHale sees it.
Lin getting snub? It's obvious that the answer is Lin. Parsons had one good game, but so far hasn't been consistent. Casspi and Garcia are great off the bench. But I don't see them as our third best player. Bev's game is not complete yet but he is improving on it. Asik is arguably the 3rd or 4th best player in our team But he has gotten less touches due to Howard.
Asik would be ranked third based just on last years performance. However, his role in the twin towers lineup is clearly a work in progress, which means his main impact is in backing up Howard as rim protector. Important, but only for so many minutes. Parsons is trying very hard to add new things to his game, and they don't seem to be things he is very good at yet. In the end this could make him better, but right now it definitely doesn't. Combined with his shot being off, it makes it hard to rank him high relative to the other primary players. Beverley has only really played one game so far, and defense is pretty tough to rank in any case. Casspi is too new to the team to tell, although he is looking good. Lin has been quietly doing a stellar job so far this season. At present, I don't see how it could be anyone but him.
Once Parsons gets out of this slump he will probably be the third guy. But up until now it's been Lin. If he continues to play as well as he has, he can be that 3rd guy as well.
The exact same reason as changing him before: his best skills are wasted with the current starting group. He is an elite penetrator, and the twin towers clog things up. He's very good as a playmaker, but Harden already does that. His skills are very valuable with the bench unit when Harden is out. In fact, he has been playing so well that switching him back would make clear that it wasn't a demotion, but a move for reasons of fit. If they don't switch him back, it would call into question the original claim for the reason that he was switched in the first place.
Lin up to this point. And I believe he will remain there or as consistent through this season. Parson might overtake him if he gets his game together which I also think he will. As inconsistent as Lin was last year, wasn't he already #2 or 3 as contributor to team wins?
yep I can see he is becoming overconfident and trying something he cant do. good to have a big heart but he is limited by physical criteria, his athleticism and full body coordination and long reflex arc decided he is not an on ball player. this team really need a good coach to guide them to the right directions.
What change would that be? Beverley was named starter going into the season. He got hurt, so Lin got reasserted into the starting lineup. I would think Lin only starts until Beverley comes back at 100% full health. He's either at it or near it. I've said it before, there's a reason McHale wants to throw Beverkey into the starting lineup and to test out how it works. I trust McHale and whatever stats he's using to configurate the lineups, so logically, why would McHale not carry on with his experiment? We're early into the season, now is the time to do it and to give it as much opportunity as possible for the lineup to succeed before needing to move forward with other changes. Just because we're 4-1 doesn't mean how we got there was the most effective/efficient even if it did give us a winning record.
#3 man? Coming via trade later in the season. For the moment? Until Parsons gets more consistency, its JLins. Bev will just be the energy guy.
If you mean points. The answer is Lin. The chart below is the six players' performance in "Per 36 Mins". http://ns.twhappy.com/?select=14,compare,compare,per36,p36pts,237_238_242_244_248_250
