Need some confirmation on this, but my father used to always tell two stories regarding the Dome:

    1. There were beer promotions and/or beer innings that would see hundreds of people cascading down the aisles, even in the upper-deck, to get incredibly cheap beer after an Astros home run.

    2. He always mentioned some game in the 1980s in which a woman ran onto the field to argue a disputed call with an umpire. He said the whole crowd went crazy and lost it when, after walking away, she turned back around to yell at the umpire a second time.

Little League team went to see an Astros game. I must have been 10 or 11 and it was the first time my parents let me go somewhere without a family member. Coach assured the parents that the game would be over and we'd be back home by 10:30, as it was a school night.

The game went 17 innings and we didn't get back home until about 3 AM. Awesome time for a group of boys who essentially had a whole upper deck section to ourselves to run around and goof off.

MORGANNA kisses Ryan? Anyone? Those were HUuuUUuUUuuUuuUuuuuuge distances to get to the pitcher.
    It was 1989.

    • Bounce pass from Isaiah to Jordan.
    • Barkley drives in, Malone says "Get it, Dream!" and Hakeem swats Sir Charles' stuff outta here.
    • I recall this is the one where Magic said he'd make DREAM the MVP, but then suffered a hamstring injury and didn't play.
    • Patrick Ewing seems to have the rebound, everyone leaves the other way thinking he had it secured, but Ewing mishandles the grab and everyone returns.

Good one. I remember we went to a Free-Throw clinic by Sleepy Floyd at the old Oshman's on Post Oak, then walked to the Summit for the Dunk Contest. We went in free because it was almost done.

I think I was there. Or did I see it in Dallas? Memory gets fuzzy these days.

Mid to Late 90's - Cant remember the year

Astros won the division, place went nuts and everyone jumped onto the field. I was young, my Dad handed me down to a stranger to get me on the field then he hopped the railing down to where I was. People were storming the place.

    -

    Another late 90's one:

In left field they had the field level club where you could walk over the fence and be really close to the left fielder. A couple of drunk idiots were trash talking to the opposing teams LF. Next pitch was a ball put right there, the left fielder ran up and caught it and told the drunk idiots to Shut the F up and they tried hopping the fence but were quickly detained.

    Good times. RIP Astrodome

Definitely the rodeos for me -- I actually saw Elvis perform at one when I was a little kid.

The Astros' games were fun, but I never caught a really big game.

Only saw one Oiler's game...

Saw one crash up derby and stunt show when I about 8 or so -- loved it.

I saw maybe three or four Oilers' games at the Astrodome. One was the Monday Night'er versus the Cincinnati Bengals, which I saw from behind a goalpost in the mezanine. We had a blocked punt and then recovery for a touchdown, and then we won on a Field Goal. I remember going to the Oilers' games only because we gave food to the Houston Food Bank. We were always standing in line because Shell or some other big corporation bought the tickets so we could get it on TV without getting blacked out.

Another was a wild card game versus the Steelers that we lost. :( I hated that one. We lost in overtime.

    I will miss the DOME.

Kevin Brown throwing the greatest game ive ever seen vs the big unit in 1998 in the playoffs. I think greg vaughn hit the only run of the game, a bomb off unit

Faith No More/Metallica/Guns n Roses concert in 1992. That was when Metallica and GnR were at their best.

Saw Michael Jackson during the Victory tour in 1984.
Saw the Stones during the Steel Wheels tour in 1989.

Only saw a few Astros games. One of them my brother caught a home run during batting practice. Another game was during Orel Hershiser's 59 scoreless inning streak.

I remember the Rockets reception for the 1994 Championship and how the rep for sports illustrated got booed mercilessly during his entire "speech". Never heard a word he said.

Saw Earl Campbell run for over 200 yards vs Buccaneers in 1980.
Saw Oilers beat Steelers in last game of the season to clinch playoff spot in 1990.
Got to see JR Richards and Nolan Ryan pitch numerous occasions.
Got to see Bob "Hurricane" Hannah race at the Supercross several times.

A vacation game with my Dad. We rolled a ball over the dugout roof. It got tossed back with Joe Morgan's autograph. We played yard ball with it.

Bused down with the bowling league for a double header when I was about 13 in 1966. I had a ham and Swiss sandwich with mayonnaise. Still eat them that way today. saw the Parking lot attendants and grounds crew dressed as astronauts.

I wasn't a fan of her music at the time but I do remember seeing Selena at her last performance before she passed away during the Rodeo.

The 80's were great times for me as an Astros fan watching Scott any my idol Nolan pitch.

Jake's Philly Steaks and Rockets Games

Late 60's; Foamer Night (even minute home run by an Astro gives the crowd free beer all night); Cesar Cedeno hits home run in the third inning on even minute, stands empty out running for that horrible dome foam, 3rd inning alone last almost 45 minutes; game lasts around 4 hours; what a night!

I had no idea Dubious was older than dirt. I still heart him though. I'll give you a high five the next time I'm at Luby's at 4pm for dinner!

When the Rodeo used it as the hide out we thought we were somebody because we got to be on the floor of the Dome.
