Yep I went and voted to save the dome, the city as a whole lacks any nods to it's past, so it's worth the money IMO to save it.

I honestly think once it gets going, it will become a pretty cool destination. Could take a little while to find it's feet though.

I agree. I love the Astrodome, but its time to put the nail in the coffin and move on. I pay enough property taxes already, $8 a year for a pipe dream doesnt sound like a good deal. I bet most of the people who are voting to keep the Astrodome do not pay property taxes

Also, the renovated Astrodome will be nothing but a shell of the original. The place will lack any history and it will just look like any other overpriced convention hall.

Dude, I'm sure the admission to this building will be $20 anytime they use it and parking will be $15 more. Why do I want to pay for something that I will have to pay again for to use it? I dont care if its a nickel a month, I don't want to pay for it

They should make stuff like this optional, see if the public really wants to fund it. All the non-property owners can finally fund projects like this one.

They should have stripped it out to its skeleton and made it a light rail hub. It's a bit away from downtown, but it could easily serve the parts of town that matter.

I like the idea of stripping it down and using it as the world's largest strip club.

I voted to save the Dome. Will do so again in 20 years if need be.

This, by all accounts and purposes, should be the replacement to the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion. No one likes driving out there or performing there.

I liked the idea of a private city, with max security, convenience, and comforts. The center floor could be converted to a park where movies and concerts could take place. They could have their own clinic, grocery store, everything a family would need in order to stay home for the weekend, week, month, year, without needing to leave.

You either didn't grow up here or you don't love this city if you vote no. History, future, whatever your reason . . . vote yes.

I live about 100 yards north of Harris County, so I don't get to vote on this issue.

I would probably vote to keep it though. Houston has a habit of turning what little history it has into a parking lot. (Astroworld, Shamrock Hilton)

Or you feel there are better things to spend money on than nostalgic obsolete money pits.

People treat Houston like a w****. They just use her when they need a job, but they don't want to contribute anything back. Central Park is some valuable land. I wonder why New Yorkers don't vote for it to paved over and build some more high rises?

Because they were too busy demolishing Yankee stadium because it was not being used?
