What's with all of Parker's negative ads? Every ad I see has just been DESTROYING Hall. Why spend all that time and money ripping an opponent you're going to beat via landslide either way?

Because so many people are stupid. Many would, in the absence of information convincing them to do the contrary, vote based on party affiliation, prejudice, or at random. At least the ads do give information (biased, slanted, filtered information, but information nonetheless) about the candidate so that voters have a context for their choice.
Living in a state with same day voter registration makes life easy. Its too bad Texas doesnt have that.
Hear Hear to the Illinois state legislature! That's 15! Illinois Senate Passes Same-Sex Marriage Bill http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/illinois-senate-passes-same-sex-marriage-bill
Hawaii's governor called a special session to vote on same sex marriage so you'll probably get a 16th state in a week or two.
Virginia is definitely going to be much closer than what the polls were predicting. Sarvis is doing well enough to be a spoiler and McAuliffe is underperfoming in some counties. (although Cuccinelli is underperfoming in others) I think this will end up closer than Obama's margin of victory.
Ditto. Although if I wanted I could have filed an absentee ballot for an already decided governor's race. Where do you go to school, Kojirou?
Even if McAuliffe wins, this has to be a concern for Democrats for 2014. Their voters just don't turn out well in offyear elections, even in a major election like this.
Making it easier to vote has to be a platform issue for them. Democrats are on the defensive about voter ID but they never make an issue about expanding voting access. Whether its expanding early voting, no fault absentee voting, implementing same day voter registration, online voter registration, ending voter ID, etc.. Democrats need to make voting rights a major issue and when they're in power they need to be passing laws to expand voting access. To me its as big a deal as any other hot button issue out there.
