Better yet. Can't wait till Bev comes back becuz we all know he can guard Redick, Cp3, Jordan, Crawford all by himself!!!
Today's game is a pure demonstration of why the Lin or Beverley thread is stupid as both are critical to Rockets success. People like to focus too much on if Beverley could have stopped Paul or not, without looking at the bigger benefits of just having Beverley back. - Beverley and Lin can share the foul trouble load. Allows you to remain more aggressive on defending without playing timid. My assessment is Chris Paul is too good of a point guard for just 1 guard to stop him. The best Beverley could do is hopefully just slow him down, make him work for his points and assists ala Gary Payton style. The idea of putting Lin at the 2 and Beverley at the 1 would not be the way to go for me. In today's game the starters obviously weren't matching up with the Clippers starters and were losing. So your chance to keep the game close today was to play Lin with the bench and hope they can overcome the deficit there.
Good post, OP. What people fail to understand is that Bev tries to disrupt the opposition at the point of attack, and this is what was missing today.
all paul has to do is throw his arms up like the lil biotch he is and that nulls that point of attack. we can however do what miami does, throw lebron at him. a superstar can get away with an extra push here and there. Harden should use that to his advantage, the fact that he is a superstar. at least try on d. Dream Run makes a great point though. he is right.
I think Beverley would have helped much more....not just slowing down CP3 but also help stop Reddick if Harden got beat too. What i meant by that is that if he Reddick running a curve and was open, Beverley would have come over and try to defend or distract him and allow Harden to recover before he go back to guard Chris Paul again. Beverley has that kind of ability. Lin is not doing anything other than guarding Chris Paul. He can't help himself but guard Paul tight.
This was the test I was hoping Bev got first chance at. See if he would be allowed to play with his style of defense against top guards like CP360. I don't think it would have made a huge difference tonight, seeing how both Dwight and Lin got into foul trouble, and Asik on Griffin. But I agree with Dreamrun and that Lin playing more aggressive and run the show with the 2nd unit gives us more options in the attack going forward.
I completely disagree. I would love to have Bev back but he wouldn't have gave us a chance tonight, he would have helped and the game may have been a little closer but it still would have been a blowout. The whole team needs to play D, that and Hardens not showing up is why we loss, it had nothing to do with Lin's game.
Wouldn't Redick then just pass to Chris Paul? I mean, Beverley is no doubt a really good defensive player but he can't cover Harden's deficiency every single time, at least to the point where it actually affects the game. It comes down to Harden's effort on the defensive end.
Are serious! Can't wait till Bev comes back. Will not have to hear this anymore. Please Beverley get heled fast.
Try 6. You repeat this in every single thread where Bev's name is mentioned, so you could at least get the stat right.
Having bev tonight is not about being able to defend CP3 better, its about have 12 fouls instead of 6... CP3 would have to work extra hard to get 12 fouls, and more than likely refs would be tired on his antics by half time... he won't get those fouls anymore and we can defend CP3 better... on top of that, when we have Lin+bev on the floor, someone will defend JJ reddick better...
I must be missing where Jeremy was blamed for the loss. Harden has taken 99% of the heat, as he should. I don't understand why acknowledging that Beverley's presence is missed has to be perceived as a slight to Jeremy. I like them best when they're playing together, and the coaching staff seems to agree.
lol I'm trying to picture this So Beverley is guarding CP3 who has the ball Reddick loses Harden on a screen to get open and you're saying Beverley will then leave CP3 (who has the ball) and go distract Reddick until Harden recovers??!
He would have 5 fouls in 1st qtr, then got frustrated, and take a shot at Paul, and got throw out of the game. The game was lost due to bad coaching. The Clippers came into the game with a plan, use big guys to screen Reddick free, known the Rockets' twin tower didn't like to be away from the paint. You add Harden's horrible defense on top of that, there went your game. But every team has bad game like this, they will play the Clippers again in a few days. Let's see if they can do anything differently.
