Bev+Lin should be the Rockets best defensive backcourt. Harden need to figure out how to win with cold-handed.
Exactly. How is it the PG's job that shooters are finding ways to get opened or athletic bigs are finding a way to break loose and catch the lob? Bev most definitely would have been a pest and most likely limit cp3 to lower points but the assists, and looks he gave his teammates would have been the same. It was just a terrible all round defensive effort tonight, you just can't expect a single player to make a difference defensively when the rest of your team isn't even giving an effort
Beverley would have made the difference no doubt, if not physically then mentally. He doesn't back down and is just as tough minded as Chris Paul. Paul knows how to impact the game on a mental level also, when he and Garcia got into it Paul killed our momentum, that wasn't accidental. After that he was buddying it up with Lin during Garcias freethrows. Next thing you koww he's roasting our players when their guard is down or tension up. Beverly wouldn't have let Paul have such a hhuge mental effect on the game, he probably could have thrown Paul off. I'm convinced that it Beverley plays tonight the game comes down to the clutch or we win in the final minutes.
Some of you guys are really underestimating Chris Pauls ability. Doesn't matter who is guarding him, he'll get his. Bev would have been in foul trouble just like Lin. This guy is the best pg in the league for a reason.
Doesn't matter who is playing tonight the way the refs calling the game. The Rockets got totally screwed from the begining until the game was out of reach.
But I think he would have got in foul trouble just like like Lin on cp3, on reddick probably not would have forced him to pass more
We need more guard who plays defense. Morey needs to look at how we can trade Jones/Dmo/Smith for a back up guard. We have Aaron Brooks and James Harden, both of which are defensive liabilities. Granted, James looks tired to start the game, so I'm thinking this was just a slow night for him. However, when Beverly is hurt, we are stuck with 1 guard who can play defense, Lin. When the other team has a super-star PG, Lin is going to be in foul trouble, which really leaves no one to play defense on the perimeter.
That Clippers is a team. The Rockets is not a team, they are stepping on each other's way on both D and O. Paul's 1st Q assists were simple passes without penetration into the paint, resulting from offball moves of teammates. Beverly wouldn't have done much against that. And the refs were ridiculous with biased calls in the 1st half.
I doubt Bev would have made Harden played better, or improved the team's defensive rotation. But yes, his energy and hustle is sorely missed tonight.
Possibly. Paul didn't go at Lin too much. However he might see a "challenger" in Bev and try to take it strong at him. Bev will slow Paul down but Paul will still score 20. Heck, Kemba Walker scored 12 on Bev in the first half alone! Still, it'll be good to have Bev back. Bev and Lin in the lineup could have maybe slowed down Redick.
I thought Lin did everything right against CP3 (didn't eat on too many of his cross overs and went around screens to force him to shoot Js), the problem was the poor defensive rotations. No one was helping effectively enough. I don't care how good of a defender you are, you're not gonna lock Paul down 1 on 1 without a little help.
I wonder if some of you watched the game tonight, the way ref blew the whistle Bev would have fouled on in the first 5 mins of the game.
Did you see how the refs were blowing the whistle tonight. Literally every single ****ing touch on CP3 was a foul. I miss Bev a lot right now too but how much can he possibly due with these refs calling fouls for breathing on Paul, esp with his aggressive D
