yep, as soon as the colts stopped Tate i knew people (even the ones who always cry about Kube's conservatism) were going to say why didn't he kick the FG.
Agree here. It was a long 4th down man, and the Colts aren't a high scoring team. I was surprised the moment I realized Bullock wasn't coming out there. Kubiak seriously picks the wrong times to be conservative or aggressive. You're playing the Colts man, not the Packers or Saints. Not saying that was the reason we lost or that it was an unforgivable decision... just think it was a poor call.
Can't blame the refs for this one. We got 2 huge breaks from them. 1) Braman roughing the kicker non-call 2) Martin's fumble reversal Not surprisingly, these were two HUGE special teams errors that we got bailed out of by the refs.
My jaw dropped when I saw the first td pass Luck threw to Hilton. He hit Hilton running at top speed in stride for that td. The replay showed Hilton ran 25 yards under the ball before he caught it. Luck is scary good right now and has so much more room for growth.
You can hit a kicker before he kicks the ball. It was not a bad call. Also a good call. The defender touched the ball while his hand was out of bounds. The Texans also had a couple of questionable calls against them. AJ's reception. The roughing the passer where Luck got hit while he was throwing the ball.
the Colts got huge breaks as well... 1. 3rd and 6 Roughing the passer call...resulting in 3 points 2. The overturn of a 3rd and long completed pass to Andre Johnson. (ie refer to the Titans play) when Johnson had possesion and once onthe ground someone poked the ball away. The same thing happened yesterday, and the Texans got jibbed by the refs on that call. 3. The sack strip fumble that was not...IMO, if a QB is still trying to make a throw regardless, a defensively player should have the opportunity to cause that strip fumble. If a RB was stood up and a player tries to rip the ball out, they would never blow the play dead...never...
We had a chance for 12 points; dont forget the bad decision to go for a 4th and 1 after just being up by 7 points... 12 points in the NFL...
Hit it on the head right there. I knew they were going to call dre's catch incomplete b/c they kept showing the Martin fumble over and over. Saying they didn't see where he touched it, so dre has to pay for it. That was a catch and he had complete control going out. The Sharpton penalty on Luck was crap, he was still inbounds throwing, what is Sharpton suppose to do? If that call didn't happen, we most likely win and Bullock's 3 missed FG's don't even matter
You can't deny those stats man. Hey Now! can you tell that. It's a moral victory. It proves Kubiak is a good coach. Kubiak, Schaub, Marciano 2014 baby!
Was that really a roughing the kicker call? I'm genuinely curious. He still had the ball when he hit him, isn't that allowed?
But you and I both know these are the kinds of calls that usually go against the Texans regardless. And I have to admit I didn't think there was enough evidence to reverse that fumble. If things were the other way around, Texan fans would have been LIVID at that call being reversed.
Given the kicker's performance, you might think the decision not to go for it on all of those missed FG attempts was the real mistake.
The Saints (216) have scored exactly two more points than the Colts this year (both in 8 games). So, you know… there’s that. They threw up a turkey (9) against the Chargers several weeks ago; otherwise, they had scored 27, 37, 34, 39 in four of their last five games prior to last night (and 27 isn't chump change). Throw out the clunker in SD (which is looking more and more like a giant aberration), and they're averaging 29 points/game this year. My only issue was the play call; Tate was obviously (and understandably) running tentatively last night (which is why they were in a fourth and short in the first place) - I either let him run a stretch (away from contact) or roll Keenum out. A power dive with a hurting RB is a poor, curious choice.
