So, off the bat... no 3rd QB, and no 3rd RB this game.

Must have confidence in Schaub, Foster, and Tate (all of them have to be slightly gimpy).

EDIT: N/M... Dennis Johnson the 3rd RB.

Basically if Texans lose tonight, their season is over. Therefore, if Texans lose tonight, go ahead and fire Kubiak. He would be a goner by the end of the season anyway. Let Wade coach out the rest of season and open up job in off season. I doubt McNair will have the balls to do something like that. McNair better be planing wisely how to approach this situation and the Texans franchise because they are on the brink of becoming irrelevant. I know Houston/Texas is football territory, but Houston will not continue to back a loser. Oilers had some very dry fan support over the years back in the day as well during their down time so McNair doesn't need to take the fan support for granite. Hope for the organization's sake, they can win tonight and extend their season.

What's the advantage of firing Kubiak mid-season?

What's the disadvantage of waiting till the end of the season?

I'd understand if this team had a strong head coach-in-waiting on the staff, but Wade is not it. Neither is anybody else on Kubiak's offensive staff. I'd also understand if Kubiak had visibly lost the team/locker room, and guys were no longer playing "hard" for him... but again, evidence points to the opposite of this (regardless of wins/losses).

I don't think McNair takes fans support or revenues for granted... or else he wouldn't have the team salary close to the cap, and he wouldn't be tossing out extensions to mediocre or oft-injured players.

In college, it's understandable to fire a coach early because the carousel moves very quickly and you can't hire a new coach until you've gotten rid of the old one. That's not really the case in the NFL. It's not like the Texans are going to miss out on anybody if they don't fire Kubiak until the offseason.

Change is the name of the game here. I personally don't feel the Kubiak regime will be the regime to get this franchise to the promise land. Kubiak would just be a lame duck. I'm sick of seeing the Texans go status quo, thats why its refreshing that they FINALLY gave Keenum a try even though it may be too little too late. Yes firing Kubiak mid season may not make much differnce but bottom line, Kubiak hasn't accomplished anything significant in his tenure here and whether he still has the locker room or not, the team has not met expectations. More fans would probably respect McNair if he finally made a ballsy move. At least he would be showing he just not going to stand for mediocre crap anymore. Certain players and staff in this organization have been too comfortable for too long. Send a freaking message.

Send a message to who? Who in this organization is becoming "lackadaisical" and is just sleeping on the job? Who's been acting too comfortable for too long? I understand that this is a results business, but again, I don't see any benefit of basically firing the CEO of the football side of things mid-season.

Also, don't see how fans are currently lacking (or showing) respect for the billionaire owner of a football team. Firing a coach mid-season simply just for "change" also possibly paints your organization in a negative light both around the league, and for potential future coaching candidates.

There's plenty of time at the end of the year to evaluate the team as a whole... and I don't feel anybody (from Rick Smith to Wade to Kubiak) should feel "safe".

But, sounds like you have your mind made up that you want a change regardless of whether or not the team wins tonight.

Yes...pretty much. Unless this team can put on a miracle run, which is improbable, what is there to look forward too under this regime??? Its pathetic and fans should demand more. Like I said earlier, the organization is on the brink of becoming irrelevant again which is a dangerous spot to be in. If Kubiak and his entire regime would have been fired after 2010 season and replaced with a better coach/regime, I'm sure the organization would have been father along. Oh well....like I said earlier I'm rooting for the Texans tonight to extend their season. I'm just looking at big picture here.

I wasn't that impressed with Johnson in the preseason. I liked Karim more but Johnson's been on a practice squad while Deji's been sitting at home. Oh well. Foster and Tate are active. Hopefully we don't have to see Johnson on the field.

That's fine... but firing him at mid-season doesn't make the risk less (or greater) of this team becoming irrelevant "again" (which I don't think they really have been... ever... but just using your words here).

Nobody's arguing against a "regime" change eventually... just that its really not feasible during the season, unless there are extenuating circumstances (as mentioned before, coach losing the locker room, a for-sure head coach in waiting already on the staff, or a coach-player/team altercation that's not repairable).

If they play with the same energy that they did against KC, I can see them winning... just gotta avoid mistakes, and force the other team to make some.
