Well it's easy to pretend he's wrong when you have an agenda other than what's best for the team and winning.

the team is winning right now & the team won how many games last year so not sure how my agenda goes against what is best for the team and makes us lose but ok.

I'll take TO from his aggressive plays. What I don't want is TO due to his indecisiveness (picking up ball too early, jumping in air with no plan).

It really doesn't matter in Mchale's system. The PG is the guy bring to ball to HD.

The difference between this and the Texans' start is that the final minutes of the game have not been close. The closest one was Dallas and that was only because McHale put in his garbage time unit with 3 minutes left because we had a big lead.

We're winning by comfortable margins in the end.

hmm honestly i used to be mad at parsons whenever he would try to create for himself and that would result in a turnover. but then i thought about it as the only way these young guys are going to learn & get better is by making mistakes and failing. so i try not to let it bug me any more. thats the beauty of a young team you have to take the lumps.

I agree with you. I just put those users on my Ignore List and go on cheering for whatever is best for the team. I just have a problem with people posting so much on this site about who's rooting for who instead of using the Ignore List function and ignoring idiotic users and posts. It clogs up the forum with irrelevant references to posts that I don't even see because I am using the Ignore List feature. You cannot control other people's opinions, you can only control the quality of what you read on the board. You can't convince or shame or put them down to change their minds, so why reduce the quality of the average forum post in vain? I want to read and post about the Houston Rockets, not who is rooting for who.

But without being emotional, the numbers do now strongly show that Lin's high turnover games are better for the Rockets than Harden's high turnover games. The Rockets are now 3-10 when Harden has 6 or more turnovers and 9-3 when Lin has 5 or more turnovers. The results are similarly striking even if you use slightly different turnover numbers as the minimum criteria, and back up my eye test that the Rockets play better when Lin has a lot of turnovers. When Lin has 6 or more turnovers, by the way, the Rockets are actually 6-0(!). The data indicates that there is something to the idea that, for whatever reason, Lin's high turnover games are better for the Rockets than Harden's high turnover games. The strong correlation between Lin's turnovers and Rockets' success may be tied to his higher usage, as higher usage means higher turnovers, and, when Lin has high usage, the team does better than when he is not, suggesting that it's best for the team for Lin to get more minutes and play more on-the-ball. I'm not blaming Harden or anyone else, just presenting interesting data that allows us to appreciate this Rockets team better and potentially reveals possible improvement on the part of the Rockets.

So McHale is trying to give us a lesser chance to win by starting Beverly? Is that his agenda or is he trying to field the lineup he feels has the best chance to win every game?

I'm pretty sure Bev's injury has decided for him. I'd be very surprised if he's back in 2 weeks... and if we're still on a winning streak when he IS back, I'm sure McHale will maintain the status quo (as he should). Beverley -- like Jeremy -- is a guy who will get in where he fits in and do whatever is asked of him. I'd bet there's more "drama" about this situation on this board than there is in the locker room.

As a function of having the basketball for a large portion of time, I think turnovers are a natural and expected occurence. Here is some perspective:

    NBA Career Turnover Leaders
    1) Karl Malone - 4,524
    2) John Stockton - 4,244
    3) Jason Kidd - 4,003
    4) Moses Malone - 3,804
    5) Kobe Bryant - 3,719
    6) Isiah Thomas - 3,682

    2012-2013 NBA Turnover Leaders-Point Guards
    1) Jrue Holiday - 292
    2) Russell Westbrook - 273
    3) Greivis Vasquez - 247
    4) Damian Lillard - 243
    5) Stephen Curry - 240
    6) Jeremy Lin - 236
    7) Jeff Teague - 230
    8) Deron Williams - 218
    9) Goran Dragic - 212
    10) Brandon Knight - 205

    2012-2013 NBA Turnover Leaders-Shooting Guards
    1) James Harden - 295
    2) Kobe Bryant - 287
    3) Monta Ellis - 254
    4) OJ Mayo - 210
    5) Andre Iguodala - 206

    2013-2014 Rocket Turnovers per Game
    vs. Dallas
    Lin - 6
    Harden - 4
    Parsons - 3

    vs. Jazz
    Parsons - 6
    Harden - 5
    Lin - 4

Here, I think the turnover card is used against Lin as a villification tool by posters who have a separate agenda.

i never said our ability to win or lose is intrinsically tied to one player & one player alone. it seems like you suggested that. you said that whatever mchale decides is obviously what is best for the team. and i said that coaches aren't always right otherwise they would never get fired & george karl, del negro, and that moron coach from sacramento can attest to that. i don't buy this whole coaches know best mentality that is prevalent on this board. thats all.

I'm sure this has been discussed, but I can't go back through the whole thread. Was Casspi even there tonight? I don't think I saw him.

Oops, I was looking at the box score and the assist column is right next to the to column. Good catch.

    vs. Jazz
    Harden - 5
    Parsons - 4
    Lin - 3

Yes, my agenda is winning. I don't give a damn who plays.
