I guess Hinkie has the Morey curse. Too good at his job to have his team tank correctly and can find PG's out of his butt.
Rose just struggles right now. He might have 5 more inches of vertical leap but he's out of whack basketball-wise still. With this version of Rose, and a bang-up Noah, the Bulls are no better than last season's 45-win team at the moment. Let's see how long it takes Rose to regain his full power.
lol my first thought after seeing MCW go off, was Hinkie is probably happy and pissed at the same time. No more tanking
not sure drafting a PG projected to go 8-12 range with the 11th pick merits "can find PG out of his butt".
MCW looks great but Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes are under the radar stories here. I've liked them for a long time as promising young players who were just waiting to break out when they finally got big minutes. I don't think Philly is "for real" in the sense that they're going to make the playoffs, but they'll be fighting for a spot. If Noel comes back strong & their young guys continue to develop they could be title contenders in a couple years.
A part of the story is that moving on from Doug Collins' totally anti-analytics approach may be making the team better. Under Collins last season, the Sixers shot a ton of mid-range Js, avoided any risky maneuvers that may get them better shots, didn't get to the line and didn't fire up 3s. It's the most conservative offense ever. To actually do these high-value things makes a significant difference. http://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2013.html
I'm amazed the 76ers are 3-0. I always liked MCW though. Thought he was raw, and am surprised he's turned out this well so far.
there is one of these guys every year. few sustain this level of play in years two and three, but he's been awesome so far.
He was below average player in college. He looked awful in summer league and preseason. Two good games doesn't make him great player because he isn't and probably will never be.
Which is why sometimes GMs don't put alot of stock in NCAA games or summer league/preseason, even. Especially when I've seen the opposite scenario much too many times ... NCAA God, Pre-Season Fantasy Legend to . . . Career/Regular Season bust.
