i had to watch a stream with the jazz commentators and they pissed me off. so this win was really sweet
I think McHale made a mistake by creating this PG situation. I feel like it is totally unnecessary. You do the lineup change because 1. your starting PG sucks, or 2. your backup PG is obvious a better player than your starting PG. Neither is the case here. I really don't see how "Fit" is a convincing reason to make the changes because Lin started all 82 games last year and they were one of the highest scoring team in the league. Now McHale need to face the headache to decide if he need to make the lineup change again when Bev gets back. And if Bev does start, I think it is just assure Lin's departure in a year or two. Because players at Lin's caliber and this young, they won't settle for a long term reserve role. A lot of money and business involved here.
tahts why i sorta think Mchale will still go with Bev as the starter. More about distribution of talent rather than Lin was playing poor.
Good job! Maybe incorporate more statistical analysis to appease a wider audience. Thanks for the link.
anyway, it is a tough job. cp3 will get his stats. good team defense may help to limit other clippers.
Not really. Howard can guard griffin one on one w/o help and shut him down. No one on their team xan check howard or harden or evn parsons. The key as u said is not allowing cp3 to dominate the game. Rediick, barnes, and everyone except crawford.
yup, and i don't see the fit thing being an issue either. If anything, Lin fits the starters (he played with 4 of them last season...) except dwight, cause they haven't really got to gel enough in practice as bev plays with the starting unit more and lin with the second unit.
We out scored Utah by 25 in the second half and upto 30 at one stage. That happened when Harden clamped down on Haywood and Asik and Dwight clamped down and started grabbing the defensive glass.
it will also put alot pressure on bev to play "well", not only his own stats but also team win when he is on the court.
It's a reason; not necessarily a convincing one though. Anyways as McHale said, he has two starting PGs. Lin hasn't skipped a beat, in fact he's gotten better.
The team is 3-0 so far. As long as they keep winning at a good pace, I doubt there will be too much headache going on whatever happens to the PGs. As for whether Lin departs when his contract ends, it's two years away. Who knows what the team and each of the players on the team will even look like by then? The focus for a coach is to try and win each game and to win a title at the end of this season.
I think McHale loves drama. That or he doesn't know how to manage people. Anyway, I hope the starters will have enough rest for next game
Oh, there won't be a headache in the locker room - not that there was in the first place - but there will be one here....no matter what happens... Bev wasn't the starting PG because he was better than Lin at being a starting PG.
Agree. Just let Lin play one-on-one defense and let cp3 get his points. He is the only creator on his team.
In the post he can but Griffin is probably the best open court big in the game so that's one area Dwight needs to go with him. They will probably Rotate Dudley and Reddick on Harden and Barnes on Parsons. They will also switch Jordan on Dwight when Asik is sitting.
There isn't any drama, there is a bunch of rabid lunatic fans on the fringe. Drama would be Jeremy and/or Bev saying stuff about it, so far neither of them have done or said anything to imply it. Mchale's job isn't to manage LOFs, it's manage Bev, Lin, and the other 13 guys, there hasn't been an issue there.
