And also first game of a back to back. And if they are going to have a good season they have to have a strong bench. Good confidence builder for that unit to preserve the win.

Keeping the starters in the game might increase the probability of winning that game slightly (95% to 99%), but this decision might also lower the probability of winning the next few games. It is well-known that we struggled on b2b games last season, and we have 5 games in 7 nights this week. I don't think our players are in game shape at this point of the season and some of our key players may not be able to play due to injuries, so I am fine with McHale's decision. Having said that, I understand why people want to maximize the chance of winning the current game. This is a good greedy approach but not necessarily an optimal one.
And the scrubs got a taste of crunch time. DMO failed miserably leaving Crowder open so many times. TJones was okay (made his free throws).
Just read through the first 6 pages and lost patience...worst thread of the week so far...nominee for worst thread of the year. Absolutely nothing wrong with what coach did...it would be stupid to think otherwise. /thread
I have to agree with rezdawg, I made it through the first few pages and then gave up. Sure, McHale isn't a perfect coach and makes his share of mistakes, but this absolutely wasn't one of them. It's ridiculous to think that a team playing their bench regularly comes back from down 17 with 4 minutes to play. OP should really think about the odds, instead of just proclaiming this thing would happen on a regular basis with no proof whatsoever. When there's a 95% chance that you've won the game, there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't take your starters out, especially if your opponent does so as well. To say this was a ruse by Carlisle is just absurd. What a horrible thread.
Same here. DD has become a less obsessed, less driven, and better poster since his hiatus. I'm still waiting to find out where he went on vacation, because it must have been a damn fine place to make him so mellow. - Uh, perhaps he could tell the OP where to go!
Today's win against the jazz is why. The rest gave them a bit more energy to pull off this win. The outcome may have been different if Michale left some starters in longer in the Dallas game
Hah, I got busy starting a new company. And we have our own forum, and now I realize what an ARSE I was....I would give Clutch all the money in my wallet right now, if I could get it away from my wife. DD
Why are there so many idiots in the GARM? This and the trade Parsons thread take the cake. Its like some people just started watching basketball. You don't risk injuring your players ...ESPECIALLY WHEN THE GAME IS OVER AND THE OTHER TEAM HAS PUT IN THEIR BENCH. (sorry for CAPS )
God, why is anyone posting in this dead thread? It was idiotic to start with and now it is just feces. Let it die.
OP is predictably getting hammered for this thread. That said, I wonder what the GARM would do if Dallas actually came back and won. I was at the game and the crowd (those that didn't leave early to beat the traffic) was ****ting their pants until Dallas finally missed a three at the end.
